Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 320

Sherry was waiting for the second court date.

Until then, she and Lucas needed to keep some distance.

So Irene bringing this up now, thinking denial would hurt her? Sherry was actually relieved.

"I think she's great. Whatever opinions you have... well, they don't really matter. It's my company now. What you say doesn't carry weight here."

Lucas leaned back in his chair, legs crossed.

Just a casual move.

Irene was instantly outclassed. Honestly, it wasn't often you saw an elder get overshadowed that easily.

You could tell—losing three times left her pissed.

"So this is how it is? You're burning bridges? You know who I am. You know how the Harrisons got where they are. Before you get too comfortable, remember—I could crush this family anytime. You understand what I'm saying."

Lucas spread his hands and said nothing specific.

Irene finally salvaged some dignity.

She shot Sherry a long look, then left.

Max wiped his forehead. "Holy crap. You made the old witch lose it. But she's vicious. Our team used to have four people. Now only three. Guess who's responsible for the missing one.

"Watch your back, Sherry. We'll protect you as well."

Max squared his shoulders, ready to defend her to the death.

"Anyone who fights the old witch is our ally!" Then he froze, realizing what he'd said.

Irene was Lucas' family, technically.

So he thought Sherry was a warrior.

"Was it worth it?"

Dealing with women like Irene was simple. She didn't really want Sherry's money.

She just wanted Sherry back off—keep her away from anything tied to Harrison Group for life.

Lucas watched Sherry choose to fight. His own parents had run.

And Irene? She embodied everything rotten about the Harrisons. Maybe worse.

The Harrison family controlled half the showbiz industry's resources. Filthy rich didn't even begin to cover it.

Offend them? You offended the entire showbiz.

Most people didn't provoke them. Even if deals fell through, the Harrisons didn't outright blacklist anyone. Good business meant good partnerships.

With one condition—you had to be the actual top tier.

Average celebs? Forget it. The criteria were brutal.

But the other half of the resources was already more than enough for most people.

Unless your skills are trash and you've been picky about gigs, then yeah—if you offend the Harrisons, you just tossed half your bread and butter.

So if they had real power, they wouldn't be that scared of the Harrisons—but not many people wanted to offend them anyway.

Too much hassle, too little gain.

Some fools thought they were immune because they'd never faced consequences. They'd talk trash, trying to sound edgy. They claimed Harrison Group's artists were assembly-line products.

To make themselves look special, they'd throw shade at Harrison Group in public or private.
