Then Sherry dropped another bombshell.
"You're not the only one who was considered. And you're not the only one who can do this shoot.
"One of the higher-ups had his eye on someone with the perfect image—stunning, elegant, and completely natural.
"She has that soft yet sharp mix that matches this campaign's vision perfectly. Over ninety percent match."
Jade stared at Sherry, starting to believe her. Could there really be someone else? Why hadn't she heard?
When Julia heard the description, her first thought was that it sounded exactly like her.
She was the face of that soft, alluring style.
Many people tried it, but hers had layers that the others didn't.
If it was her, everything made sense.
And if she actually landed the S Brand deal? Even better. Today wouldn't be a waste.
She'd only come because of rumors.
The Harrisons normally didn't attack unless pushed too far.
That gave her freedom to come and go as she pleased.
She was ninety-nine percent sure they were talking about her.
Who else could be that perfect?
But she agreed with Jade—Sherry would have to beg first.
She wasn't lifting a finger to help unless Sherry humiliated herself.
She wanted the deal. And she wanted Sherry groveling at her feet like a dog.
Julia posed, ready to be announced. She waited for Max to speak.
Max did speak—but why did she hear the wrong name?
"It's Sherry."
A few snorts broke out.
Then more and more people couldn't hold back their laughter.
"Did I hear that right? Did he just say Sherry? I must be going deaf. That's hilarious!"
That was the image they'd accepted.
Prejudice is heavy.
Even seeing her, they laughed instinctively.
But the laughter died fast. They looked at her, then at their own outfits.
Mocking someone far above them made them look ugly. When they realized that, their smiles froze.
Especially when Sherry and Max stared back at them like they were crazy. That only made them angrier.
"Max, we used to respect you. Your work is impressive. But for this seductress—"
It slipped out, and he shut up fast.
Deep down, they knew Sherry was beautiful. But they refused to say it out loud, even to themselves.
He bit their tongues before continuing, "Looks like you made some quick cash and bought a few nice clothes. But you're still tacky. You're better suited to endorse pig feed or something."
"Don't think I'm jealous. The designer Ann is here today. She's super picky and her mouth is sharp. Of course, if you can even understand what she says."
