They'd told her if this actress didn't work out, Sherry would take her place.
The style fit Sherry perfectly, but she hadn't felt confident at first, hoping the actress would be reasonable.
But once she saw how arrogant Jade was in her file, she knew trouble was coming.
And sure enough...
So it fell to her.
She wasn't happy about it—she'd been pushed into this.
But that didn't mean Julia got to boss people around here.
"Ms. Mack, this is not a place for you to throw a fit or say whatever you want. Keep talking, and I won't hesitate to have you removed."
Sherry's tone made it clear "removed" would mean total humiliation.
But Julia had been in the industry far longer. Sherry was just a newcomer.
Who really held the power here? Sherry? Please!
Julia stepped forward confidently.
"You want that dual aura? I have it too. And I have the experience to do it better. Talk is cheap—I believe in fair competition.
"Ms. Campbell, would you care to compete with me? The work is what matters. If you win, I'll accept it and step down myself.
"Of course, if I get chosen, I won't ask for a cent. I'm grateful just for the chance. I'm easily satisfied."
Julia really knew how to sell herself.
Her lines sounded perfect—painting her as kind, hardworking, and drama-free. Who wouldn't like her?
Then she switched to her native language and said, "Don't tell me you're scared?"
She provoked Sherry while keeping a sweet, innocent face, because the foreigners didn't understand their language.
But Sherry replied calmly in the foreign language, "Why would I be scared? Beating you would mean beating someone who calls herself a professional. Just don't make excuses later, saying you lost because you weren't right for the role."
Sherry already knew exactly how Julia would weasel out of it.
Julia was convinced she was the original queen of that dual aura—everyone else just faked it with makeup and styling.
Hers was real, from the inside out.
Sherry beating her at that? Impossible.
