She was burning with jealousy.
She refused to believe that as her status rose higher and higher in the Campbell family, Sherry wouldn't get jealous.
"Since everyone's here, we'll decide who gets the resources once our CEO arrives."
Teresa clamped a hand over her mouth, thrilled. "Getting to see Mr. Y? It's such an honor! I heard barely anyone in King City has even seen him—he's..."
She shyly covered her face.
"I'm still just a newcomer. For Mr. Y to come in person, I..."
Edward's proud voice cut in. "That's because you're worth it. Because you're talented."
He shifted his gaze to Sherry. "Unlike some people who have to leech off men everywhere she goes.
"You can tell real gold from a fake at a glance."
Someone stepped in, clapping slowly.
"Bravo."
A familiar voice. A face that made Sherry sick.
Beauty is subjective.
Even after Liam brainwashed Teresa into thinking status and money made a man attractive, she still had a thing for bad boys.
Too bad the only guys who looked like that in real life were punks.
She'd always thought rich men were either twisted or boring. But this guy was different.
He stole her heart in an instant.
But she already had Liam. They couldn't be together, sure—but that didn't stop her from flirting and keeping him on the hook, right?
Blushing, she murmured, "Don't listen to my brother. He just sees me through rose-colored glasses."
"I think your brother's right. You really are exceptional." Hector leaned in close to her ear.
Teresa's ears burned bright red.
Sherry let out a mocking scoff.
Teresa immediately thought Sherry was laughing at her—saying she fell for any man she laid eyes on.
"Sherry, are you just jealous Mr. Y chose me?" She turned to Hector. "My sister's always like this. She's been jealous of how good I am this whole time."
"Oh? So Ms. Campbell is the jealous type, too." His tone was colder than when he'd spoken to her before.
