Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 370

She had been forced to stay there and couldn't even leave without paying. She'd stood there, calling her family frantically, but no one answered.

Thinking of that, Sherry had quit her job to repay him, and she had genuinely worried about his health.

She hadn't been sure her small salary could support both of them, especially with him sick.

She'd never expected that sacrifice to become a weapon used against her.

But in the end, she could at least say they'd owed each other nothing.

To go back to Gilbert now, to watch him flirt with other women every day, then be told she was crazy or overthinking...

It would slowly destroy her.

She'd have to beg him for money just to live. The thought terrified her.

"So he really just got tired of you?" Yelena's hands tightened into fists.

"Once someone's heart changes, everything you do annoys them. And then there was the first love obsession. It just proves he never really let her go. He just married me because he couldn't have her."

That was the worst part. If he'd been honest from the start, she never would have married him.

But once the other woman came back, he ran straight back to her like a lost puppy.

"Sherry! Pull over now and apologize to Julia!" George was screaming like a madman, pounding on his steering wheel.

Yelena stared in disbelief. "Is he insane? I can read his lips—he wants you to apologize? For what?"

Sherry didn't say a word. She rolled down her window, slowly lifted her middle finger, then rolled the window back up.

On the other side, the group looked like they were about to explode.

Julia's face turned green with rage.

"That depends on what Julia cooks up."

"They actually believe her lies?" Yelena said, shocked. "Don't they check security cameras or anything?"

"First, they won't even look. Second, even if they did, they'd make up excuses. People who don't want to believe the truth never will," Lucas said calmly.

Yelena stared at him, surprised.

"I've never heard a man say that before. Why do they act like this?"

"They want everything," Lucas said, summing up Gilbert perfectly.

After a few days, the swelling went down, and he could walk normally.

Sherry had been putting dishes away in a high cabinet she couldn't reach. She'd asked him to help for just a minute.

He'd snapped at her horribly. "Are you blind? Can't you see my foot's hurt?

"When Wendy took care of me, she even helped me walk. And you're making me work? You can't even take care of me, but you insist I come home!"

All because she'd said it would hurt Wendy's reputation—and the company's image—if he stayed at her place.

He'd come back angry, looking for any excuse to lash out.

She hadn't understood why he'd been so irritable, picking fights over nothing.

Until that moment.

Sherry had had to climb up and put the dishes away herself.

Tears blurred her eyes, and she dropped the whole stack. They crashed and shattered on the floor.

She'd seen Wendy's post on Facebook earlier. That picture was the reason she'd asked Gilbert to come home.
