Her Revenge Was His Regret (Shirley and Gilbert) novel Chapter 382

"So Mr. Bode and I are nothing like what you're imagining. I don't know who started these rumors. If it was Sherry... Please don't blame her. She's just a housewife, after all."

Normally, when she said things like this, the reporters would turn on her target at once.

That was how she worked—anyone who crossed her would get torn apart by the press.

But this time, the reporters didn't react like that at all.

Instead, they suddenly burst out laughing.

"Don't worry, we believe you're not here because of a pregnancy."

Why were they buying it so easily? And why weren't they attacking Sherry?

She'd practically spelled out that Sherry was targeting her. Were they really that blind?

"Look at you talking all that—Mrs. Bode must've punched you, right? You lost a whole tooth! This is hilarious!"

Everyone on-site broke into loud, rolling laughter.

"This story isn't even that explosive, but your face is gonna go viral forever."

Flashlights exploded in Julia's face.

Reporters clicked away at record speed.

Julia clamped her mouth shut—but it was already too late.

She'd been too smug, too panicked, and completely forgotten about her missing tooth.

Within minutes, photos of her gap- toothed, pitiful expression were trending online.

An adult's front tooth doesn't snap that easily, and with the reporters hyping it up, everyone assumed someone had knocked Julia's tooth clean out.

And right on day one, when she wanted to pull herself together and fix her image, this happened.

If her mystery man saw her like this, he'd laugh at her forever.

Julia turned green with rage.

"Gilbert, I was trying to make us look distant. I even used 'childhood friends' to show we're clean.

"But I never thought Sherry would arrange all these reporters just to mock my tooth! You didn't see what happened then.

"That woman attacked you from behind. I jumped in to stop her, and I got hit too! My mouth hurt so bad... and she was saying all those terrible things about me..."

Gilbert had been doubled over in pain, but he'd heard everything.
