If she couldn’t get a divorce, she would sue to reclaim the joint property with Gilbert. If things escalated, Gilbert would be too embarrassed to intervene, at least publicly he couldn’t do anything underhanded. Otherwise, Sherry would let him experience the feeling of being cyberbullied.
“Will there be any lawyers at the party who aren’t afraid of powerful figures?”
Tyrone raised an eyebrow, his smile meaningful. “Of course.”
“Then I’ll go.”
Whether there were lawyers or not, Sherry could at least try her luck. She could also repay Tyrone’s kindness. Perfect.
After everything was prepared, Sherry realized she didn’t have a single formal dress.
Jean had sent her quite a few haute couture dresses. Unfortunately, those dresses weren’t suitable for the occasion, and the sizes weren’t quite right, so she sold them.
She had to order new dresses in advance.
She went to the store Tyrone recommended.
It was indeed quite popular there. She had seen many wealthy ladies buy their clothes there before. Sherry knew many of them.
Many fawned over her, hoping to curry favor with their families.
Gilbert despised such sycophants. It was these same people who had initially mocked and scorned him. Because Gilbert disliked them, Sherry distanced herself from them.
Perhaps it was because of her aloofness that they stopped fawning over her.
But this time, seeing her, everyone’s expressions turned disdainful, as if they’d witnessed a joke.
“Hey, isn’t this Mrs. Bode?”
Upon hearing this, everyone burst into laughter.
Even though she had distanced herself from them before, she had still shown them sufficient respect. Now, what right did they have to ridicule her like this?
“You actually made it here? How long did you beg Gilbert?”
“I think she must have cried her eyes out to Gilbert to get this opportunity.”
“I don’t think so. They’ve been married for so many years, but she’s never been to an event like this before. I bet this is Gilbert’s divorce gift to her.”
Everyone’s eyes lit up.

“Yeah! I get it. It’s to let her enjoy herself one last time before the divorce. After all, what right does Sherry have to order a dress? Even if she did, she’d never have a suitable occasion to wear it. She’s probably afraid of looking too pathetic after being dumped by Gilbert, so she ordered a dress to pretend.”
The whole room, including the staff, burst into laughter.
Sherry stared at them expressionlessly. “Are the things under your noses your mouths? I thought they were sewers. So filthy.”
The crowd immediately became angry.
They pointed at Sherry and started yelling. “Did we say something wrong? You were the woman Gilbert abandoned! Gilbert truly loves Wendy. I heard he’s going to introduce Wendy to us at this party, which means from now on she’s the real Mrs. Bode!”
“They have been together since they were young. They were childhood sweethearts. Gilbert cherished and doted on her. You must have used some despicable means to get into Gilbert’s bed to let him marry you.”
“Now his true love is back. You, the despicable loser, will only end up being abandoned.”
“She deserved to be abandoned. She was very indifferent to us before, We flattered her, but she didn’t even
look at us.”
“Wendy is such an amiable girl. She is Gilbert’s true love. She does not bully others and is generous to us. Because of this, our relationship with Gilbert has improved. We once thought that Gilbert looked down on
us!”
“That’s right. Now I know that it was Sherry who was behind it. We don’t even know how much business she has ruined for us!”
When they thought that if they had gotten those businesses, they might not be any worse than the Bode family today, they put all the blame on Sherry.
Sherry laughed self-deprecatingly. What pained her was that what they said seemed to be true.
Gilbert was indeed doting on Wendy now.
