Chapter 66
“This has nothing to do with me. Wendy took my room. Besides…”
Liam sent a video.

In the video, Wendy was bound by something, standing on tiptoe in a corner. It was an abandoned building, with steel bars and debris falling below.
Wendy was terrified. Her face had turned deathly pale, and she didn’t dare utter a single word. Normally, she would have said a lot, dragging Sherry into the mess no matter what.
Seeing this, everyone present gasped.
“I want you to guarantee Wendy’s safety.” Gilbert turned to Sherry. “Sherry, this whole thing started because of you. Wendy is innocent. You have to take responsibility.”
As he said this, the bodyguards surrounded her. Five minutes ago, each of them had been holding flowers, slowly approaching her.
Now, they were all armed with various weapons, staring at her menacingly.
Sherry could lose at anything, but not this.
“Gilbert, you should remember Liam…”
When they got together, they told each other everything that had happened before.
In this situation, if Sherry went, there could only be one outcome. Gilbert couldn’t possibly not know that.
But in the video, Wendy’s legs were trembling with fear, and she was about to fall.
“Wendy is fragile. And she was kidnapped before. She can’t handle it. She has post-traumatic stress disorder and phobias.”
She has post-traumatic stress disorder?
Sherry thought her heart would never be hurt again, but it felt like it was being stabbed with needles. “Have you forgotten that when we met…”
Gilbert interrupted her. “Don’t worry, I’ll ensure your safety.”
Gilbert clearly remembered.
Wendy was sick? Wendy had post-traumatic stress disorder?
But Sherry had actually spent a long time in the hospital, like a madwoman, what others considered mentally ill.
It took her a long time to become a normal person.

Gilbert remembered everything. He just didn’t want Wendy to get hurt at all.

Sherry’s hand fell limply to her side, a helpless smile on her face. “If I were to go insane again, you’d still use me to exchange for her, wouldn’t you?”
Gilbert frowned, discussing a plan with the men beside him.
How could he let Sherry go back to that state?
“That will not happen.”
Sherry shouldn’t have questioned him or doubted his abilities.
Wendy was just an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. She looked like she wouldn’t last even a few more minutes.
Gilbert, frantic with worry, started blurting out incoherently. “You’re making up all these excuses just to get Wendy hurt, aren’t you? You’ve disliked her for a long time.”
He believed Sherry was deliberately stalling for time.
Liam had no grudge against Wendy and Gilbert. Why would he really let Wendy get hurt?
He was just trying to scare Gilbert. After all, Gilbert’s methods of revenge were terrifying.
All these years, he hadn’t dared to touch Sherry because he feared Gilbert’s retaliation. Perhaps he had already realized Gilbert no longer cared about her, which was why he acted against her.
Even with only a tenth of his usual composure, Gilbert would know that exchanging hostages wasn’t the safest solution and it wouldn’t protect Sherry.
He simply couldn’t bear to see Wendy suffer even the slightest harm.
He didn’t give Sherry a chance to resist. His bodyguards immediately grabbed her and carried her to exchange for Wendy.
Gilbert grabbed Sherry’s hand and found it unusually cold. “Don’t worry, I’ve already arranged for people over there. We can use this opportunity to capture Liam. After all, he’s always been a thorn to you.”
See? He knew everything.
He knew even more that Wendy’s life hung by a thread. He gripped Sherry’s hands very tightly. In her eyes, he was eager to exchange her.
