Her Sweetest Mistake (Amelia) novel Chapter 81

Contrary to what she expected, her parents were quite dismissive about where she went. She had packed her bags and grabbed some money to catch a bus.

I’ll be at Vanessa’s house tonight, mom. Try not to worry,Cheryl moved close to her brooding mom and planted a kiss on her forehead..

The older woman simply patted her arm and went back to thinking. Cheryl wished there was anything she could do to ease her worries but knowing her father, talking to him so he’d stop selling their things to pay his debt would be useless. All she needed to do was observe.

Finally leaving the house, a wave of imagination began to play in her mind. She couldn’t wait to get to the party and see George be attractive as hell in his tailored suit and tie. He would be the highlight of the night.

Vanessa had said that night would be to get a boyfriend for her. If only she knew that the only person she wanted was her dad. George Carter.

The bus pulled to a stop and Cheryl hurried her way through the estate to the mansion. When she entered, she was met with emptiness. She dialed her friend’s number and she picked after the second ring

Hey, babe. Where are you?

Oh. Come over to the back of the house. You’ll see a hall.

Immediately, Cheryl walked over there, wondering inwardly how rich they were to be able to have so many buildings belong to them. Their house was like a fucking town.

When she got to the hall, her jaw almost fell open with how huge and beautiful it was. It had been decorated with glittery ribbons and sparkly ball chandeliers. Colorful drapes graced the ceiling to floor windows, falling like water across the stairs that led to the gallery too. The stage was all set for musicians to come perform, tables were set for buffets and the air was filled with excitement and incoming celebration.

Cheryl! I’m glad you’re here.Vanessa squealed from behind and when Cheryl would turn to see her, all she could see was a bunch of wraps that Vanessa was struggling to lift. My father can be annoying sometimes! He’s appointed me to oversee the arrangements when he could have hired someone.

Without thinking, Cheryl bristled. He could be saving money.

But with a side glance from Vanessa, she realized how ridiculous she sounded. They were going to blow millions on celebrating opening their new mansion and she thought George wanted to save a couple thousands to hire an event manager. Weird. She helped Vanessa to lift some of the trash and in a couple of minutes, they were done.

The sun was already setting by the time Cheryl would finish getting dressed and by the loud honking and cars screeching, she could tell that the guests were starting to arrive.

She hadn’t seen George since she arrived and it made her wonder if he’d even be there for the party. However, she vowed to make the most of the night. There was no use sulking over the absence of someone she couldn’t be

seen with.

Applying the last touch of makeup, she admired herself in the mirror. A black sequin dress that clung to her frame, a slit so high it could expose everything underneath if she lifted her leg too much. The back was bare, the dress barely held together by a strap that went around her neck. The front was exposing, leaving almost nothing

to the imagination as her body’s were pushed together by the dress, leaving a gaping hole in the middle. Her hair was worn down and curled at the tip, leaving some light fringes at her forehead. Her makeup was smokingly dark and sexy, with her eyeliner drawn to highlight her doe shaped lids that hooded those green eyes. With a pair of heels that helped her height, she went downstairs,

All heads seemed to turn as soon as she entered the hall or so she imagined. Vanessa, with a beaming smile, rushed over to her. She was otherwise dressed in a flashy pink ball gown with her blonde hair styled extravagantly in a ballroom style, housed in a large pink hat. Her face was covered in glitter makeup as well.

Come, Cheryl. Let me introduce you to some nice guys you’ll love. Very hot and wild.

Cheryl shook her head and laughed as she let herself be led by her friend. Typical Vanessa.

Meet Darren, a course mate and friend of my boyfriend.Vanessa pointed towards a rather average height guy with a slender stature covered in a stylish tux. His hair was styled in a taper fade, the top coiled and allowed to fall over his temple. He had a sharp jawline that was also beardless.

To be honest, he looked like a growing teenager and she didn’t like it even though he was attractive. Yet, she waved back.

And Darren, meet Cheryl. The two shook hands and with the firm handshake, Darren smoothly pulled her to his body, wrapping a hand around her waist.

Awkward but smooth. This made Cheryl chuckle. I didn’t know you were smooth like that.

He leaned down, placing his lips against her ear as he rocked her sideways to the music. You wanna know what else can go smooth?

Cheryl’s heart began to beat fast as she looked around for help. Vanessa was gone, disappeared into the crowd like she wasn’t just there.

Oh! Now would be a perfect time for George to show up. She prayed in her heart of hearts for George to come save her from this jerk.

Vanessa never told me you were this sexy. I would have asked for an introduction a little earlier than now.He drawled, casting a painful sensation over Cheryl who smiled nervously, still looking around for someone to save

her.

Someone who regarded her as beautiful rather than sexy.

After some minutes of dancing, the music changed into something with a harder beat and Cheryl seized the opportunity to escape.

I’ll be right back. She informed Darren with a smile which he returned with a smirk and a glance over.

Yeah, baby. They always do.

Soon as she left the hall, a wave of fresh air hit her face and she rushed to the mansion to revel in some peace and quiet. Going over to the kitchen to get water, she was shocked to see a silhouette in the dark.

Who’s there? She was about to move to the switch when the shadow moved and she felt herself being slammed against the counter, a strong hand covering her mouth.
