Hired a Gigolo Got a Billionaire (Zoey and Christian) novel Chapter 673

Chapter 673

Julian trusted Sydney. He trusted her to take care of her body first. He trusted every decision she made.

Just like that, the unease in Sydney’s heart eased. “Really?”

She could see how much he cared about their child, which was why she had not expected him to agree so easily.

“What else would I do?” Julian pinched her cheek. “Demand that, before the baby is born, you give up your career, give up everything you enjoy, and stay home every day waiting to deliver? Precious, the child matters. But your freedom to live the way you want matters more.”

He held her gaze and stressed each word. “This is not me indulging you or making allowances. It’s your right.”

‘Freedom…’ Sydney’s eyes stung. She had wanted nothing more than that since she was little.

She looked at the man in front of her. Sunlight cast a soft glow over him and sharpened the strong lines of his face.

“Okay. I understand.”

Julian smiled at her seriousness. “Come on. I’ll go with you to see Alan.”

“Don’t you need to go to the office today?”

“I don’t.” Julian took her hand and led her toward the front hall. He gave a mock sigh and teased, “I need to make the most of

the time before Dr. Wilson goes back to the clinic. I’d better keep her company while I still can.”

Sydney shot him a sidelong look. “Then you’d better do a good job. If Dr. Wilson isn’t satisfied, she’ll replace you.”

“Yes, Doc.”

Still joking, they got into the car one after the other.

Elliot drove. He glanced at them in the rearview mirror and smiled.

Julian looked at him. “What are you grinning at?”

“I’m happy.” Elliot thought for a moment, then said, “Seeing you and Ms. Wilson like this feels like old times. Back when you drove her to school every day, it felt just like this.”

Over the past two years, most of Julian and Sydney’s meetings had been tense. She jabbed at him, and he jabbed back.

A moment like this had been a long time coming.

Sydney paused, lost in thought.

Julian smiled. “What do you mean, like old times? What comes next will be better than before.”

Back then, they had too many things to hold back. From now on, he could love her openly and protect her without restraint.

By the time they arrived at Alan’s house, the old couple sat in the yard enjoying the sun.

When Eliana saw Sydney and Julian step out of the car, she jolted from her half-doze and stood at once, delighted. “You girl”

Eliana had clearly recovered. Her energy had returned to normal. She gave Sydney a mock scolding. “Why didn’t you tell us in advance you were coming?”

Sydney pretended to be offended. “So now I need to make an appointment to come see you?”

“That’s not what I meant.” Eliana glared at her. “We barely have any groceries in the house. If I’d known earlier, I could have

bought the things you like.”

Lately, she and Alan had both been eating lightly. She worried it might not suit younger people.

Sydney did not mind. She was about to answer when Julian spoke first. “You can have someone deliver groceries later. I’ll cook today and show you and Alan what I can do.”

Only then did Alan, who had been lying in his rocking chair, let out a low chuckle. “We’re only getting this because of the girl. Normally, who would ever get to try your cooking?”

He said it as a joke, but he was not wrong. Julian’s position had only grown more secure. Even the Hamptons had been left

behind.

Chapter 674

To Sydney, Alan was both a mentor and a father.

Back then, if Alan had not taken her in as his student, Julian would never have dared send her back to Eloise. She would have been cornered at every turn, and in the end, neither of them might have come through it well.

Eliana understood that his respect for them came from how deeply Sydney mattered to him. That only made her happier for Sydney. With a broad smile, she said, “Alright, alright. Don’t just stand there. Come inside.”

“Okay.”

Sydney looked at Alan and leaned forward, about to help him up. “Alan…”

“Enough.” Alan cut her off at once. Bracing himself on the armrest of the rocking chair, he rose neatly on his own. “I’m still young. I’m not at the stage where I need you two helping me.”

He was old, yes, but he refused to admit it.

Eliana could not resist replying, “Of course, of course. You’re much younger than the two of them.”

Sydney and Julian exchanged a smile. The two elders had been married for decades, yet their relationship remained this warm. That was rare. Sydney had grown up watching them bicker, but she had never once seen them truly fight.

Julian stepped aside to speak with Elliot, so Sydney went in first with Eliana and Alan.

Once they were seated, Sydney looked at Eliana with concern. Guilt still colored her voice. “How are you feeling now? Do you still feel any discomfort?”

The question only made Eliana feel worse.

“I’ve been fine for a while now.” She took Sydney’s hand, then looked at her already visible belly. Her eyes reddened before she realized it. “You’re the one who nearly lost the baby because of me-”

“Eliana!” Sydney cut her off quickly. The guilt in her own heart deepened. “You were dragged into this because of me. The fact that you don’t blame me already means more than enough. How can you say this happened because of you?”

More than anyone, Sydney knew that if not for her, Megan would never have targeted Eliana.

However, Eliana did not see it that way.

“If I hadn’t been so easily tricked out by one phone call, none of this would have happened,” Eliana said.

Some time ago, Sydney had called and asked her to help persuade Alan.

On the surface, she agreed. But in her heart, she felt exactly the same as he did.

The old couple had held each other and cried at home before they managed to accept even a small part of it. Only after hearing two days ago that Sydney’s condition had stabilized did they finally breathe easier.

Sydney had not expected them to be even more stubborn than she was, so she resorted to shamelessness. “I don’t care. Neither you nor Alan are allowed to think like that anymore. Otherwise, I won’t even be able to eat today, and the baby will go hungry with me.”

Eliana did not know how to respond and looked toward Alan.

He huffed, but his tone was indulgent. “Why are you looking at me? It’s not as if this is the first day you’ve known she’s the best at being unreasonable.”

The worst part was that both he and Eliana always gave in. In front of outsiders, this girl was obedient and well-behaved. With them, acting spoiled and making a scene was perfectly normal.

Eliana laughed through her tears and relented. “Fine, fine. None of us wanted this to happen, so none of us will blame anyone. Alright? And you’re not allowed to blame yourself either.”

She had watched Sydney grow up, so she knew her temperament well. That was why she felt the need to remind her.

During pregnancy, the worst thing was overthinking.

As they spoke, Julian walked through the living room carrying a bag of fresh produce and fruit. He headed straight into the kitchen, leaving them space to talk.

When Sydney was with these two elders, he had little to worry about.

Their affection for her was no less than that of parents for their own child.

Alan glanced toward the kitchen, then slowly turned back to Sydney. “Marc told me you want to go back to the clinic and start seeing patients again?”
