Hired a Gigolo Got a Billionaire (Zoey and Christian) novel Chapter 732

Chapter 732

Zoey’s POV

“I think Christian is cheating on me.”

The words slipped out before I decided they were allowed to exist.

They landed in Annie’s living room like a metal spoon hitting a glass-too loud for a space that, three seconds earlier, had been nothing but comfort. We were sprawled across her couch in London, mid-afternoon, the TV playing something mindless-one of those shows that exists purely so you don’t have to think-and two open tubs of ice cream on the coffee table like a survival strategy. Outside, the London sky was doing what it always does: threatening rain without committing.

Annie slowly turned her head, stared at me for half a second, and then burst out laughing in my face. She almost dropped her

spoon.

“Zoey,” she said, still laughing, “that’s ridiculous.”

I pressed my lips together, feeling my face heat up. I had come here to talk to my sister because I knew that the second I said it out loud, half my brain would want to lock me in a room and make me sit with the embarrassment.

“You’re not allowed to laugh,” I complained.

“I absolutely am,” she shot back, wiping a tear of laughter from the corner of her eye. “Because Christian is crazy about you.”

“He’s been acting weird.”

Annie shifted on the couch, like I’d just flipped a switch labeled big sister mode. She grabbed the remote and lowered the

volume of the TV without even looking, like she was used to silencing noise just to hear me better.

“Define ‘weird,'” she said.

I nudged the ice cream container with the back of my hand, like that might help organize my thoughts.

“He’s… hiding things from me.”

Annie raised an eyebrow.

“You’re dramatic.”

“That’s not it.” I took a breath, trying not to spiral inside my own anxiety. “Before, he’d answer any call, anytime, right in front of me. Now he… hides his phone. Turns the screen down. Closes his laptop when I walk in. Says he’s working, but I know he’s not at the office.”

I said it all in one rush, like speed might save me from sounding ridiculous.

Annie just looked at me in silence long enough for me to hear the faint hum of the kitchen fridge. I hated that silence. It made everything I’d said feel heavier.

Then she sighed and reached for her ice cream.

“Okay,” she said. “That is… at the very least, suspicious.”

I opened my mouth—

“But,” Annie raised a finger before I could celebrate, “suspicious is not the same as cheating.”

I sank back into the couch like I’d been held up by something invisible that suddenly snapped.

“If it’s not cheating… then what is it?” I asked, my voice smaller than I wanted.

Annie looked at me with that steady, no-nonsense expression only a sister can pull off.

“It could be a hundred things. Work. Stress. A surprise. Maybe…” she made a face, like she hated the idea as much as I did, ” therapy.”

1 let out a humorless laugh.

“Christian going to therapy is less likely than me staying calm.”

“You just proved my point,” she said dryly. “You need therapy too.”

I ran my tongue over my teeth, trying not to get defensive. The problem with venting to Annie is that she never buys my version at a discount. She wants the full price: facts, context, honesty.

She set the ice cream down and turned more toward me.

“Hey,” she said softly, the nickname coming out in a way that always disarmed me, “I know you have past stuff. And I know that when your body decides to be scared, it turns into a whole committee trying to gather evidence. But… you and Christian? You’re basically the perfect couple.” 1

I made a face. “Perfect couple” was the kind of phrase I hated. It sounded like marketing. Like a pretty lie.

“There’s no such thing as a perfect couple,” I muttered.

“There is,” Annie insisted, pointing at me with her spoon like she was closing a case in court. “It’s when you can see from the outside that two people choose each other every single day.”

She held my gaze.

“And that’s you two.”

My chest tightened in a way that wasn’t comfortable.

“You’re my inspiration when it comes to love,” she added.

I leaned my head back against the cushion and stared at the ceiling, like it might have answers.

“I want to believe that,” I said quietly. “I want to believe it so badly it hurts. But he’s acting strange, Annie. And I don’t know what to do with this feeling.”

Annie stayed quiet for a moment, and the way she didn’t speak felt like she was giving me space.

“Have you asked him?” she said finally.

I turned my head toward her.

“Asked him what? ‘Are you cheating on me?” I shot back.

“It doesn’t have to be like that,” she said. “You can tell him he feels distant. You can tell him you’re feeling insecure. You can…. talk. I know, shocking.”

I let out a sound that was half laugh, half frustration.

“Talking to Christian is great when he wants to talk. When he doesn’t, he turns into…. a very attractive wall.”

Annie snorted.

“A very attractive wall,” she repeated, clearly enjoying that. “Okay. Then explain something else. What else has changed?”

I closed my eyes, trying to line everything up in my head.

“He’s been doing things… out of character,” I said. “Like he’s trying to prove something. The other day, he went skydiving.”

Annie’s eyes widened, and she laughed.

“Yeah, I heard about that,” she said, way too entertained. “I heard because he sent the video to half the planet.”

“Exactly!” I said, pointing at her like that proved my case. “Since when does Christian do things on impulse? He’s always the guy with a plan. He doesn’t need adrenaline. He already has the world at his feet.”
