Chapter 430 Quiet Morning
She sat on the big bed, wide awake.
She picked up her phone and mindlessly scrolled through her social feed.
She saw a new post from Zoe.

Zoe was traveling abroad with Daniel at a seaside beach. Bathed in bright sunlight, she had a huge, radiant smile, looking utterly happy and carefree.
Zoe had a sweet–looking face and loved to smile. She always gave off an upbeat, optimistic vibe.
Zoe was the bright, sunny type, while Yvette was quiet and gentle. They were complete opposites. Brandon would never fall for someone like her.
A sharp, bitter ache twisted in Yvette’s chest at the thought.
She flopped back onto the bed, lying on her side as she replayed Zoe’s video over and over again.
She could never be that loud and lively. Zoe hopped onto Daniel’s back without a single care in the world, clinging to the man she loved and acting spoiled without holding back.
Yvette felt equal parts envy and insecurity. Tears welled up in her eyes.
It made perfect sense why Brandon had once liked Zoe.
Any guy would want a girl that bright and vibrant.
She eventually drifted off to sleep that wedding night, drowning in sorrow and tears.
The next morning, she woke up early.
She dressed simply in a plain–colored dress and headed downstairs.
The household maid was busy making breakfast in the kitchen.
“Good morning, Mrs. Whitmore,” the maid greeted her politely.
Yvette still wasn’t used to the title, but she quickly adjusted. She nodded with a soft smile. “Good morning.”

“Wait outside for a moment. Breakfast will be ready soon.”
Yvette leaned closer and peeked curiously into the kitchen. “What are you making?”
“We have creamy rolled oatmeal, egg omelets, veggie wraps and vanilla lattes.”

The maid was stirring the oatmeal while all the other ingredients sat neatly on the counter.
“Let me help,” Yvette said, walking over to wash her hands.
The maid panicked immediately. “Mrs. Whitmore, you can’t do this kind of work! If Mr. Whitmore finds out, I’ll lose my job.”
“It’s fine,” Yvette assured her gently. “Cooking is just a hobby of mine. It has nothing to do with you.”
The maid stared at her in pure shock.
Wealthy young ladies never liked cooking.
But as just an employee, she didn’t dare argue with the lady of the house. She simply stepped aside and let Yvette take over.
The maid had worked for the Whitmore family for over a decade, and she had never seen anyone make breakfast look so beautiful.
Yvette shaped the food into delicate decorations. The dishes looked so visually pleasing that they made your mouth water, yet they were almost too pretty to eat.
She treated cooking like design art, carefully arranging every dish.
The maid watched in complete awe. Seeing the satisfied smile on Yvette’s face, she realized she truly loved cooking.
Yvette enjoyed every second, treating the food like a form of art.
“You really know how to enjoy life,” the maid couldn’t help but say.
Yvette smiled happily as she stared at her finished cooking. She picked up a small plate, tore off a piece of the egg omelet, and held it out to the maid.
“Try this for me.”
The maid looked flustered. “I–I couldn’t. It’s inappropriate for you to feed me.”

“Don’t be so formal,” Yvette said softly. “We’re all equal. You’re just here to work. We’re family. Please taste it and tell me what you think.”
The maid felt touched by her kindness. She shyly took the bite.
The second the egg omelet touched her tongue, her eyes widened in surprise.
“This is delicious! Way better than mine. Did you add tiny shrimp for flavor?”
Yvette nodded happily. “I had something similar at a five–star hotel once, so I learned how to make it from their chef.”
The maid gave her a sincere thumbs–up.
For ten years, she had only ever cooked simple home–style meals. She never bothered to improve her cooking or focus on finer flavors.
The Whitmores were always easy to please, so she never felt the need to change anything.
She never imagined her decades of cooking experience would be outdone by a young noblewoman who treated food like art.
She felt genuinely embarrassed.
Yvette left a portion of breakfast for the maid, then carried the rest to the dining table.
She checked the time and sat quietly, waiting.
