Chapter 438 Gentle Protection
Dennis stared at Yvette’s innocent face and believed every word she said.
The two went upstairs and waited inside her office.
Yvette made Dennis a cup of coffee.
Half an hour later, the office door swung open.

Dennis stood up in a hurry. He turned around, only to see a tall, handsome man walking in.
Furious and humiliated, he grabbed Yvette’s wrist tightly and snapped, “You lied to me.”
Yvette winced in pain.
Brandon strode over and clamped his hand around Dennis’s wrist. He squeezed hard enough to make Dennis hurt and force him to let go.
“Let go.” Brandon’s voice was ice cold. “Don’t touch my wife.”
Intimidated by Brandon’s powerful aura, Dennis stumbled two steps backward.
Brandon pulled Yvette behind him, his gaze sharp and stern.
“Judith chose to break up with you. That’s her decision. Why are you harassing my wife?”
“I just…” Dennis’s voice trembled.
Brandon cut him off sharply.
“Be a man and take it gracefully. There are plenty of women in this world. If she dumped you,
move on.
“If you’re that desperate to see her, wait outside Jensen Villa. Leave Yvette out of this.”
Hiding behind Brandon’s broad back, Yvette couldn’t help leaning closer to him.
She’d never felt so safe in her life.
Overwhelmed by Brandon’s cold, dominating presence, Dennis left in a rage.
Brandon turned around, his expression softening instantly.

He gently held her wrist and checked it carefully. “Does it hurt?”
Yvette smiled sweetly, genuinely happy. “Not at all.”
“Come along, ride with me.”
“What about my car?”
“I’ll drive you back to work tomorrow morning.”
Yvette nodded.
Brandon’s hand slowly slid down her wrist and laced his fingers through hers.
Yvette’s heart fluttered wildly, feeling shy yet blissful.
He held her hand the entire way out of the building.

Once they got in the car, Brandon buckled his seatbelt and spoke casually. “I’ll drive you to and from work from now on.”
“You don’t have to go out of your way…”
“It’s no trouble.” Brandon started the car, his tone leaving no room for argument. “I don’t feel safe leaving you alone.”
Yvette smiled softly and hummed quietly.
She also wanted to spend more time with him to build their relationship.
They were both always busy, and they barely got to stay together.
A quiet silence filled the car until Brandon broke it.
“There’s a charity gala tomorrow night. Will you come with me?”
Yvette turned to look at him. His side profile looked stunning in the sunset glow, making her heart skip a beat.
“I’d love to.”
Brandon smiled faintly, glanced over at her, then focused back on the road.
When they got home, they had a simple dinner together.

For once, Brandon didn’t head straight to his study. Instead, he sat with Yvette in the living room eating fruit.
“How’s work lately?” Brandon asked casually.
Yvette hugged a throw pillow, her eyes bright.
“Everything’s going great. The new collection got amazing feedback.”
She paused for a second and asked, “By the way, is there anything I need to know for tomorrow’s gala?”
Amused by her serious expression, Brandon smiled.
“Just dress beautifully.”
Yvette’s cheeks heated up. She mumbled quietly, “I look pretty every day…”
Brandon let out a low chuckle and ruffled the top of her hair gently.
“You’re right. My wife is beautiful every single day.”
The intimate gesture froze them both. The air suddenly turned thick and romantic.
Blushing hard, Yvette stood up. “I–I’m going to bed. I need to pick out my gala dress
tomorrow.”
Brandon watched her walk upstairs, his eyes filled with tender affection.
The next evening, Yvette finished work early and headed home to get dressed in the walk–in closet.
She picked an elegant champagne–colored gown and pulled her long hair up, exposing her slender neck.
The second she walked down the stairs, Brandon stood up abruptly, stunned by her beauty.
“What’s wrong?” Uncomfortable under his intense stare, Yvette tugged at her dress. “Does it look bad?”
Brandon’s Adam’s apple bobbed. His voice turned husky. “You look gorgeous.”
He walked over and pulled a velvet jewelry box out of his pocket.
“This matches your dress.”
