“ANSWER ME NOW!” Jacoby takes a step back away from me, he looks ready to s**t a brick but I don’t see any bad intentions in his eyes.

“I’m sorry Alpha, I… the doc cleared me to leave the hospital this morning, I waited around for a few hours but no one showed up to tell me what will happen next, so I decided to come and find you, I asked someone outside the packhouse where you were and he gives me the directions to your floor.”

“Hang on, you’re telling me someone gave you directions to my floor without asking who you are?” Is he f*****g serious?

“Yes, Alpha!” Ohh someone’s going to be sorry!

“Did you get his name?”

“I’m afraid not Alpha, but I would recognize him if I saw him again.”

“I expect you t-” Before I finish my sentence the lounge door swings open and a flustered Jack and Ashley storm in looking ready for war.

“Alpha is everything ok? Brooke said she could feel something was wrong, we told her to stay in the kitchen with Liam while we checked it out!” I have Ashley link, Brooke, to let her know everything is ok and quickly fill them in. I decide to have Brooke join us soon after, we need to discuss Annabella’s idea, what Jacoby heard and what we do next.

“Liam, can you cover my warrior class, please? it’s starting in 20 minutes but I want to stay with Brooke as she’s not feeling too great!” I feel s**t about lying to him but he’ll thank me in the end and Brooke really is struggling so I’m not completely lying but I also need him out of the way for a while.

“Of course, Cal grounds or building?”

“Grounds, hard course, mixed.”

“I’m on it Cal, let me know if Brooke needs anything!” Always looking out for others that guy. We don’t have time to waste so, Annabella and I make quick work of telling everyone about Annabella’s idea, everyone decides that despite the risk they like the idea too but before we can plan anything we need to talk to Bethany, to convince her to do this without her knowing all the facts, I just hope she will help us.

“Now back to you Jacoby, you may have explained how you knew where to find me but that doesn’t explain why you were listening in on private business or why you walked into my lounge without any permission!” He’s ready to s**t bricks look is quickly back before he summons up the courage to talk.

“I arrived outside your door ready to knock but then I could hear voices, I ended up listening to the conversation instead of knocking, I know it was wrong but by the time I had realized what I was doing it was too late for me to walk away, I had heard the part about you needing a decoy and as much as I knew I should walk away and pretend I didn’t hear anything, I knew it had to be me, I knew I needed to be the decoy!”

“While I appreciate your honesty, I’m still not happy and if I catch you sneaking around or doing anything like that again I will kill you on the spot, you have been warned!” He nods my way while looking generally sorry.

“Hold up, how much of the conversation did you hear? Did you…” f**k f**k f**k what if he heard about Beth and Liam’s bond?

“I did Alpha, I heard about Beta Liam being Bethany’s mate. I know it may not be worth much but you have my word that I won’t tell anyone, I think it’s pretty incredible, I’ve heard of it happening but never actually known anyone to experience it and honestly, I think they will be perfect together!”

“For f**k’s sake! I swear by everything I hold dear to me if you even so much as breath a word of this to anyone I will tear you apart limb by limb!” f**k I don’t trust him enough to have this information in his hands and I’ll have no problem destroying him if he tries anything.

“I won’t breathe a word Alpha, I won’t hurt any more innocent people, what I have done to Bethany still haunts my dreams every night!” I hope he’s telling the truth for his sake and everyone else.

“So why do you want to do this Jacoby? You know there’s a chance that you could die right? I can’t guarantee your safety if you do this.”

“I know that and I’m ok with it, I was a part of her k********g, I kidnapped a 15-year-old girl and what did she do? She forgave me, It’s unbelievable! From what I know of Beta Liam she has a great life ahead of her and I’ll do whatever it takes to help make that happen. If I die then I die, I don’t have any family or mate to leave behind, there’s no one to miss me but this could be what is needed to help Beta Liam and to secure Bethany’s future, it’s an easy choice for me, one I won’t regret making!”

I can see he’s not messing around here and as much as I hate his guts I’d be lying if I said I haven’t gained a small bit of respect for him.

Beta Liam

I am f****d after covering Calvin’s class and then doing my own I wanted nothing more than a hot shower and food but instead, I found myself walking the parklands for 3 hours, I haven’t got a clue why or where I was even going, it hasn’t made me feel any better either, I’m not sure what will right now apart from being free of this spell that’s got a hold of me.
