Kaia POV
I am so happy right now. I’m replaying in my mind the scene from the courtroom and smiling.
When the recess was over, I went back into that courtroom, and my nerves were on edge. My father stepped in front of me. Mr. Fellman stood beside me and put his arm in front of me to keep my father from getting any closer.
“Kaia, this has gone far enough. Your husband has learned his lesson. I will call his father and tell him everything you endured and what he made you suffer, but you need to call off this divorce,” my father says.
I scoffed. “You are unbelievable. You want the fifteen percent of Black Enterprises. Then my husband could leave me and even take my home. You have never once cared about me or loved me. If I’m granted this divorce today, understand that once everything is turned over to me, you will not see me again. I have no father.”
Mr. Fellman then spoke up, “You act more like a pimp than a father. That prenuptial agreement can serve as a contract you made to sell your daughter to enrich your life, Mr. Saunders. If you continue harassing my client, I will file suit against you for trafficking your daughter.”
My father’s eyes widened with anger, but we walked past him and took our seats. When the judge entered again, he began to speak. “I called all four doctors from the medical report. I also took the liberty of calling the hospital where you stayed, Mrs. Black.” He then looked at Mr. Hollman and my husband. “These are not forgeries, and your client lied to you, Mr. Hollman. All the medical documentation provided today is legitimate. Mr. Black never consummated the marriage and violated the prenuptial agreement, by his own admission in the recordings.”
I’m holding my breath and saying a silent prayer.
“Therefore, I have no reason to deny Mrs. Black’s request for divorce or to prevent it from being finalized today. Additionally, the terms of the prenup agreement are clear, and I am ordering a transfer of assets to Mrs. Black to be completed within the next thirty days. The four of you will need to appear at this courthouse to finalize the paperwork at that time.” Judge Michael said. “Mr. Black, your actions toward your wife were cruel and deplorable. If it were up to me, I would impose additional penalties on you for your behavior. However, I believe granting Mrs. Black’s request is more important. I hope you have learned your lesson. Court is adjourned.”
Now I’m sitting in the jet with Isaiah and Sinclair. We’re flying above the clouds, and I feel like I’m on cloud nine. The weight of that marriage is gone, and I don’t have to worry about that asshole ever again.
“Are you happy?” Sinclair asked with a smirk.
“Ecstatic! Are you kidding me? That asshole is gone, and I don’t ever have to deal with him again. Well, only one more time to take everything away from him,” I said.
Isaiah then said, “I’m going with you next time. No reason not to now.”
I smiled. “Come with me, but let me handle this and close this chapter. It will be at the courthouse, and the judge will be there. I don’t want anything jeopardized. Wait for me outside, okay?”
He scowls and growls low. “Fine. These human divorces are a pain in the ass,” he grumbles.
I laughed and held his hand, “The important part is over. This is just tying loose ends and making sure everything is complete.”
After a couple of hours in the air, we finally land, and I am giddy to get back to the pack. I notice that Sinclair still looks a little down, so I grab my phone and start taking pictures of her.
“You exist and you are important, girlie! Damn all those people from before. We are home now. Consider this a rebirth! Now let’s take our ‘baby’s first picture’!” I said excitedly, starting to take selfies with Sinclair and even bringing Isaiah in for the pictures.
By the end, Sinclair was laughing, and the laughs were real. They reached her eyes, and I hope it continues. I also hope she finds her mate. She deserves love and happiness. When we get to the pack house, we see Aiden, Thalia and Rodrigo.
We rushed over and hugged each of them. Rodrigo kept staring at Sinclair. Clearly, he has a crush. They are not mates, though. Sinclair’s expression was neutral. She likes Rodrigo, but not as a mate. She likes him, but I think it’s only friendly.
“Why don’t you guys put your things down and rest a bit. We can meet up in an hour for lunch.” Aiden said.
