Chapter 448
Isaiah POV

I’m running the pack grounds with the guards, and I see Adrian coming to join me. As he gets closer, I see he is upset…again. He and Amber probably argued again. Our wolves are identical. Storn has a small patch of gray on his chest, and Thor, Adrian’s wolf, has a small patch of gray on his left paw. Otherwise, we are solid black wolves, a trait common among alpha males.
‘What’s eating at you, bro?’ I asked him.
He huffed, ‘I asked Amber where she would like to go on vacation, just the two of us. It was a complete bust. She flat out refused. I like your idea, Isaiah, but she doesn’t. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m losing her.’
We are running along the tree line and close to the gates and alarms. I’m noticing boxes that weren’t there before, so I start observing if they are at every post while I talk to Adrian.
‘You two are fated mates, man. I’m sure she is probably going through something and doesn’t know how to talk about it with you.’ I said, trying to encourage him.
‘Every time I try to talk about it, she complains that I’m not around enough. Then I make the effort to be around more, and she says I’m hovering. I came here to breathe. I talked to her about your suggestion, and she doesn’t want to go. I can’t win with her. I asked her what she wanted, then all she did was cry.’
‘Could she be pregnant? Maybe it’s making her hormonal.’ I asked.
There was a pause. I felt anticipation suddenly manifest through our twin bond. ‘Maybe that’s it. She wanted to wait, so we have been careful, but what if something failed and she is pregnant? I know Reid, Navy, and I are leaving in a couple of days. Maybe then we can go to the pack doctor and find out. It would give me relief if she were pregnant.’
‘Why does she want to wait?’ I asked. I mean, it’s their choice and decision, I’m just curious. I haven’t even thought about pups with Kaia yet. I want them, there is no question about it, but I want to know if she does.
‘She wanted to go see places and finish studying. I think she’s honestly afraid of being a mother. No matter how many times I brought up the subject, she deflected.’ Adrian replied.
‘Definitely go with her to the pack doctor then.’ I said, and I continued running patrol.
Those boxes are at every post, and clearly, they have a purpose, but I’m not sure what. As we run back towards Kaia and Sinclair, we shift and pull shorts from the hidden bins.
“Kaia, Sinclair,” I called from a distance. “Those boxes are at every post. Do you know why that would be?”
Adrian walks up beside me, and Kaia and Sinclair both look at Adrian and me. We are muscular and only in shorts. Now these two troublemakers are staring. Kaia smirked, and I know she is going to say something to add to my
damn list.
“Is this two for the price of one?” She purred.
“No. It’s two more for the list, trouble.” I said, narrowing my eyes at her.
She tsked and laughed, “You are your lists, stickler.”
Adrian starts laughing, “I think that is a better name for you, brother.”
Sinclair doesn’t miss a beat, “You would be Mr. Moody, Adrian. You’re always in a bad mood these days. Did it

hurt your jaw to laugh just now?”
I laughed as Adrian scowled at Sinclair. “I know you are the nerdy, cute type, but don’t start a battle of wits with me, little wolf.”
Her cheeks blushed, and then she stood up, “I prefer the beautiful, genius type. Thank you very little.” Then she turned to me, “You say these boxes are at every post?”
“Yeah. More like every other post. It looks like the one you have in your hand.” I said.
Sinclair looks seriously at Kaia, and they exchange a knowing glance. Kaia spoke up first.
“It’s dormant for now, but we’d better disable these undetected fast.” She said.
