His Plump Mate (Book 1: The 'His' Series) novel Chapter 492

Aric POV

At first, I wanted to feel the water out with Sinclair. But then I noticed the mole on her neck. The exact same shape and placement as Iris’ mole. I used to poke her there when I would tease her. She would swat her hand away and stick her tongue out at me.

If she were a twin, that would explain why every birthday, Mom would throw Iris’ party and then, after everyone was gone and had settled for the night, Mom would cry quietly, and Dad would console her.

I was too little to understand back then. As Iris and I got older, the crying stopped, but the sadness never did. Every year on Iris’ birthday, they would be happy for her but sad when the night was over.

Then the rogues attacked. The first time, Dad hid Iris and me in a secret area under our home. I saw through the cracks my mother and father getting torn apart by rogues. They fought as hard as they could, but they died. I remember the aftermath. I remember Iris crying over our mom’s body. I was trying to save Dad, but he bled out. The pack had turned into a frenzy trying to save those who could survive. They told me my father wasn’t going to make it, and they needed all their resources to save those who had a chance.

The pack left my sister and me to fend for ourselves. I was fourteen at the time, and I had to take care of my twelve-year-old sister. We ended up coming here to Ironclaw because our aunt was our only surviving relative. At eighteen, I became the Beta here.

My aunt passed away shortly after I became Beta. By then, I was able to take care of Iris, and I did for two more years. Until that fateful night. My sister, the only family I had left, was murdered by rogues. She suffered the same fate as our parents. She didn’t have a wolf. When she turned eighteen, she was wolfless. She was sad, heartbroken even. She didn’t want to do anything. A couple of months after turning eighteen, she was gone.

I grieved. I failed my sister. If she were a twin and Sinclair were really my sister, there would be so many thoughts in my mind. First, I’m not alone anymore. Second, what happened to Sinclair when she was born, and why didn’t my parents tell Iris or me anything? Third, how did she end up in the human world, bouncing from foster home to foster home?

We arrived at the pack hospital as everyone was coming out. Kaia ran up to Sinclair, “Girl! Rebel is going to do one of her cookouts tomorrow to celebrate Sheri’s return to the pack house.”

Sinclair’s eyes lit up, and she looked at Luna Rebel, “Please, will you let me help? I want to learn how you do those pork ribs.”

Luna Rebel laughed, “It’s going to be a long cooking day for ribs. I need to see what the kitchen at the pack house has first. Then I need to get food brought over from Blackstone.”

“Sinclair can make her brownies, Mom! They are amazing.”

Alpha Austin looks at Sinclair, “I would not be upset if you made those chocolate chip cookies you make, Sinclair.”

Sinclair then stands beside me, “Everyone, I want to tell you all something. First, hell yeah on brownies and cookies. As long as I get to learn how to make pork ribs,” she smirked, earning a laugh from the group. Second, Aric and I were talking. There is a serious possibility that he might be my brother. Which would bring up more questions than answers.”

Everyone was quiet. They kept looking at Sinclair and then at me. Kaia was wide-eyed, and then a smile broke out. “Okay, we are so talking about this over dinner tonight!”

I spoke up, “Sinclair and I are going to have a DNA test done. We will catch up to you all afterward.”

Alpha Isaiah looked at me, “Yeah, you and I need to talk too, Aric.”
