Kaia POV
I finally get some alone time with Sinclair. I am way too curious about what is going on between her and Aric. I pulled her aside.
“Talk. What is going on?”
Sinclair had a look in her eyes that said that she was just as confused as I am. “Kaia, I don’t know. Aric showed me a picture of Iris. We are identical, right down to the mole on my neck. Same shape, size, color, everything…we are identical. Not only that, but we are the same age.”
She continued, “I was put up for adoption, but according to Aric, his mother would always throw a birthday party for Iris and then afterward, she and his father would be sad and consoling one another. Like they were suffering a loss. They died in a rogue attack. His mother and father hid Aric and Iris. Later Iris was killed in a rogue attack. She was barely eighteen.”
“Then what about your adoption papers?” I asked.
“Well, that’s the mystery, isn’t it? Is Cherise and Ronan Clay my parents? If not, were they the ones that kidnapped me? Or is there something more nefarious going on? Aric and I thought the easiest way to start this investigation was to take the DNA test. The hospital said it would take a couple of days.”
“The hell it is…hold on!” I said.
I grabbed my phone and called the medical director. I explained the situation and asked that we get the DNA results fast-tracked. He committed to having it done by noon the following day.
I relayed the information to Sinclair, and she started laughing. “Look at you acting like a Luna.”
“I’m being selfish. I’m hoping you will move to the pack if you are related to Aric,” I said.
Sinclair smiled slightly, “I don’t know, Kaia. I like Blackstone. I’m respected there. Plus, I feel like a third wheel in your relationship with Isaiah. As much as I enjoy watching you two get under each other’s skin, I feel like I overstay my welcome.”
I scoffed, “Please. I love having you around. You’re like a sister to me.”
“And you are one to me. But, either way, Ironclaw and Blackstone are merged. Now that Isaiah is the Alpha, it doesn’t need to separate, so technically we are still in the same pack, right?”
“Yeah. We are; I just like having my best friend nearby.”
“I know. But hey, I already asked for lawn chairs, a table, a bottle of wine for me, and juice for you. We take our job supervising the warriors fixing things very seriously,” she chuckled.
“One day, we need to invite Thalia to join us,” I joked.
We decided to call Thalia, and we knew that Aiden was listening. So we told her she should come help us supervise.
“Girls, that sounds like a fabulous idea. When did you have in mind?” she chuckled.
