Angelo POV
I’m looking at the screen in front of me. All of Alpha Julian’s accounts have been withdrawn, closed, and irrevocable. Whoever did this and could remain undetected while it was happening is too brilliant.
In the back of my mind, I am quite certain it is Sinclair. If she is exposed, Julian will no doubt kill her. He can tolerate a lot of things, but having his money stolen is a line you do not cross.
I want Sinclair here. I want to learn from her. I decided to create information to present to Julian. I decided to create a person that could take the credit. I named him ‘Condor’ after the vulture condor. This will set Julian on a wild goose chase to get back at that imaginary nemesis that robbed him blind.
No matter what, though, I want Sinclair. I want to work with her. Learn from her. Collaborate with her. She is one of the most brilliant hackers I’ve ever seen. I wish to meet her.
I finished compiling the made-up documentation and walked back to Julian’s office. I used the information already known, but padded it with information about Condor. I created signatures, traits, you name it. Now time to see if he buys it.
“Alpha,” I said, entering the room with a folder in my hand. “You have a new enemy. Do you know who ‘Condor’ is and why he would be targeting you?”
He sat up straighter. “Let me see what you have.”
I nodded and gave him my folder, hoping that my nerves would stay calm. When he took it from my hand and started reading the information I made up, his eyes darkened.
“I want this asshole found. Can you retrace his steps?” Julian asked.
“No, Alpha. Unfortunately, Condor is very good at covering his tracks. As I was starting to get a lead, everything was erased. It’s clean as a whistle now. Not only that, but all documentation that was provided to the banks was completely legitimate, which is why we need Sinclair. She could probably uncover this better than me.”
“Then we need to grab her,” Julian said. “We cannot lose this money. It’s our lifeline, Angelo.”
“Lifeline?”
“Yes. I have one additional account, but there isn’t enough capital to accomplish what needs to be done before the war.”
Well, shit. If Sinclair did do this, then she really would incapacitate Julian. Julian is worrying about the likes of Mia and Rodrigo, when the real threat is Thalia, Sinclair, and Kaia. He doesn’t realize that the three of them are the ones that are cutting off his resources. Thalia cut off his plans with Diego to acquire Mia and Rodrigo. Kaia cut off his plans with Black Enterprises. Sinclair just cut off his financial resources. He is looking in the wrong places, but I’m not going to voice my opinion.
Somewhere along the way, I went from excited to help him with his mission to questioning what happened with the original mission. I even turned because I believed in it. Now he seems unhinged. It makes the hair on my neck stand up most days.
“Understood, Alpha,” I said. “I will do what I can to recover the money. I don’t know if I will be able to, though. Condor is exceptional at covering his tracks.”
Julian nodded, and I left. Before I left, however, Julian called out to me.
“Angelo?”
My hand was on the doorknob. I slowly turned around. “Yes, Alpha?”

So many missing chapters and repetitions. A different story altogether from chapter 101...
