Sinclair POV

I am finally done with recovery. It has taken a week after coming back from the hospital with my new family. In the back of my mind, I know this war is supposed to come. I have kept an eye on Julian’s movements. They haven’t stopped. It’s only gotten slower.

No one has come after me, or tried to launch a cyberattack. Which means no one has either figured out or confirmed it was me. I still have to move forward with my plan. I’m dreading it now.

Phoenix and Irene are so precious. Adrian is such a good dad, too. He is there for everything. Even when he comes back from running patrols or working in the mines, he showers and then wants his pups. We decided we wanted them with us as much as possible.

We only leave them with the nanny if necessary, like a doctor's appointment or meeting. Otherwise, they are with us. I even bought a baby wrap carrier for Adrian and me. We love having our pups with us. Phoenix seems attached to Irene. He always reaches out for her when they sleep. If they are not in the same bassinet, then Phoenix gets fussy.

Adrian said he is being a good big brother. It’s incredibly sweet watching Adrian with Irene, though. She grips his large finger and then grins with her dimples on full display. They both have Adrian’s hair and eyes, but they both have my nose and smile, minus the dimples.

We are currently going downstairs for lunch. Phoenix is with me this time, and Irene is with Adrian. When we reached the dining hall, Mom got up immediately to kiss her grandpups. She does the same with all of the pups.

Aiden and Thalia have started bringing Rosario and Teagan with them now that they are almost a year old. When we sit down, Teagan shifts and asks to see Phoenix and Irene. Adrian chuckles, picks up a little wolf maw, and places her on his lap between us.

It melts my heart to see him acting like such a good dad and uncle. Rosario, not being outdone by her sister, also shifted and sat on my lap.

“They are tiny,” Rosario said.

I chuckled. “You were this small when you were born.”

“I’m a big girl now,” she said confidently. Aiden chuckled and spoke. “Girls, come back here with your mother and me. You need to continue eating your lunch.”

They scrunched their noses and groaned. “But, Daddy, we want to play with Phoenix and Irene. They don’t float away like our brothers,” Rosario protested.

Thalia laughed. “Phoenix and Irene are newborns, mi vida. They cannot play just yet.”

As we were all laughing and carrying on, the howls of a Rogue attack could be heard. Everyone at the table jumped up. Aiden is snarling, as is Thalia and Adrian. I stand up, but Adrian looks at me.

“Get to the safe room with our pups, Sinclair. You are barely recovered.”

Thalia jumps in. “Adrian is right, Sin. You need to get the pups to safety,” she said as a nanny comes for Rosario and Teagan.”

“Follow Sade. She will get you in the secluded safe room with our pups.”
