Adrian POV

I am still on a mission to change Sinclair’s mind about stepping into Julian’s world. It’s too dangerous. I want to protect her and our pups.

She sniffled. I didn’t even realize she was crying. “That rogue attack was specifically sent for me, Adrian. There will be more if I don’t.”

“What you felt today is no different than what I feel when you talk about putting yourself in danger, little sin.”

She sighed and held my hands. “Adrian, you realize that even the Moon Goddess told Thalia to stand by my decision? This is not something I’m taking lightly. I know I have to go, even when the one thing I truly want to do is stay here, in your arms, raising our pups. Including the ones we haven’t made yet.”

I smirked, but I knew it wasn't reaching my eyes. “I don’t want to lose you, little sin. I’ve already been a widow once. I’m honestly terrified.”

“You won’t lose me, Adrian. I know you have suffered, but I’m different from Amber. I’m not easily swayed. I’m not defenseless. I’m weakening his defenses before I get there, which will also weaken loyalty to him. Everyone under Julian was turned, and everyone under him wants a piece of a pie that no longer exists.”

She isn’t wrong. Necessity is the mother of all inventions, and if his people know that he is no longer able to provide, they will go in search of a place that can.

“That still doesn’t make you safe. What if he discovers what you did?”

“He bought the company, Adrian. He turned it into a weapon with the hopes of killing Kaia, Thalia, and me. You saw what I saw. He is always going to be a threat. It’s been to be beside him, then in his way. I will paint a picture of loyalty that he has never seen, and then we pull the rug from under him. Thalia and Kaia understand the plan. There is work to be done here. I need to pull his eyes away while everyone finishes preparing.”

“Can’t we send someone else? Why does it have to be you?” I asked.

“Because he knows I hacked his system and gave him the virus. Because he knows that Ronan and Candy want me. He also knows I’m the one person who can figure out who took his money.”

“Couldn’t you train someone to do these things?”

“The Moon Goddess gifted me with the talent to spot, disarm, fix, and anything else where technology is concerned, Adrian. How could I possibly train someone that didn’t receive this gift?”
