His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 125

With his arm still around Annika, Jordan started walking toward the group.

Annika felt a piercing gaze on her and managed to flutter her eyes open. The light in the karaoke bar's hallway wasn't bright, but it was enough for her to make out a familiar, imposing figure. It looked like Conrad, radiating his usual cold pressure.

*It must be a dream,* she thought with a bitter laugh. The man was inescapable; everywhere she went, he appeared. They must have been enemies in a past life.

She tried to pull away from Jordan, but he held her tight, guiding her right up to Conrad.

Jordan glanced at the stunning woman clinging to Conrad’s arm. She was beautiful, though her makeup was a bit heavy. He recognized her as Maggie, a famous actress who was all the rage in Seafall City.

Conrad shot a fleeting look at Annika before his expression went blank. He turned and started to walk away with Maggie.

Annika watched their retreating backs and muttered under her breath, "Player."

"What did you say?" Jordan asked.

He couldn’t shake the feeling that Conrad's glare had been hostile. His cousin was not a social person, and with the old feud between the Farley and Beryl families, they hadn't held a family gathering in over a decade. Seeing Conrad was a rare event.

"Nothing," Annika mumbled.

"Do you know Conrad?" Jordan asked, recalling how Conrad had seemed to give Annika a hard look a moment ago.

"No," she slurred, shaking her head vehemently. "I don't know Conrad. I only know Marcus… and Nadine… and Monroe…"

Marcus, Nadine, Monroe? Jordan mulled over the names. He didn't recognize any of them, but for her to remember them while drunk, they had to be important people in her life.
