His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 126

Annika’s head was spinning, her temples throbbed, and her vision blurred. She thought she was seeing multiple Conrads, convincing herself she must be dreaming again. How could Conrad possibly be holding her?

The sound of a door being kicked open echoed in her ears, and the next thing she knew, Conrad had tossed her onto the bed.

Struggling to sit up, Annika rubbed her sore backside and grabbed his sleeve, slurring angrily, “You bastard, you hurt me.”

Then, she wrapped her arms around his firm waist from behind, pressing her face against his back. Her eyes were closed, but her long lashes trembled nonstop.

Conrad stood frozen as she clung to him, the two of them remaining in that position for what felt like an eternity.

Finally, he peeled her hands off him and turned around. His gaze fell upon her flushed, dazed face. Annika gave him a mischievous wink and broke into an adorable grin.

Her smile instantly extinguished the fire of his anger. Swallowing his frustration, he took a step, but she lunged at him again, wrapping her arms tightly around him. “Don’t you dare leave.”

“Let go,” Conrad commanded, his voice sharp.

“No,” Annika said, shaking her head vehemently, determined not to release her grip.

“I’m just getting a towel to wash your face.”

At his words, a warmth spread through her chest, and her hold on him loosened.

Conrad strode into the bathroom and returned moments later with a hot, damp towel. He began to gently wipe her face, while she stared at him as if he were a complete stranger.

Conrad was washing her face? Annika’s heart felt warm and fuzzy, but in the next second, a wave of sadness washed over her.

This had to be a dream. The real Conrad would never care for her like this. He didn’t care if she lived or died.

So she remained perfectly still, afraid that any movement would shatter the illusion.

Licking her red lips, she tugged at her coat, shrugging it off to reveal a cute, white camisole underneath. The sight of her, so vibrant and alluring, made every muscle in Conrad’s body tighten. His expression turned dark and menacing as he fought to suppress his desires.

“Don’t take it off.”

He snatched the coat from the bed and tried to drape it over her shoulders, but Annika would have none of it. She threw it off again and yelled, “I’m hot! I don’t want to wear it! If you want to wear it so badly, you wear it!”

Conrad didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. In their two years of marriage, he had never seen this playful, willful side of her.

He put it on, she took it off. Back and forth they went until they were a tangle of limbs on the bed.

His voice was hoarse and seductive. “Be good, Annika.”

“I don’t want to be good. Where’s the fun in that?” Annika’s lips curved into a smile. The alcohol was a potent aphrodisiac, and for some reason, she found herself missing Conrad intensely. Since this was all just a dream, she decided not to hold back. She cupped his face in her hands, leaned down, and kissed him.
