His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 147

“I have no idea,” Justin replied, completely bewildered.

“Who was on the phone?” Donovan asked.

Justin rolled his eyes. “Who else could make him move like that? She calls once, and he comes running.”

The memory of Conrad’s road rage was enough to jolt Donovan fully awake. “Annika called him? You think they might get back together?”

“Anyone else, and I’d say they would have reconciled ages ago,” Justin said, unconvinced. He let out a cold snort. “But those two… I wouldn’t bet on it.”

Annika waited anxiously at the entrance of the Beryl Manor. When a black Cayenne sped down the road, she rushed forward, her face alight with hope. The car had barely stopped before she pulled open the passenger door and jumped in.

“Conrad, you’ll help me, right?” she asked breathlessly before she had even settled in her seat.

Conrad didn’t look at her. He floored the gas, drove into the manor, and killed the engine.

Before he could even get out, Annika had already leaped from the car, rounded the front, and stood before him, waiting for his promise.

He looked at her, his bloodshot eyes deep and filled with a trace of irritation.

Annika caught the scent of alcohol and smoke on him and noticed his wrinkled suit and messy hair. She realized he must have been drinking and smoking all night. “Were you at a bar last night?”
