His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 150

“If you loved Monroe, would you have disregarded his life like that?” Annika fired back the moment he finished speaking.

That moment on the rooftop, when Conrad had walked toward Yelena without a second thought, Annika had been so devastated she had wanted to jump, to end it all. How could he have been so cruel? Monroe was his own flesh and blood.

Seeing the raw hatred burning in Annika’s red-rimmed eyes, Conrad flinched, taking an involuntary step back. She blamed him. Her hatred was palpable.

But at the time, he wouldn’t have made that choice if he hadn’t been absolutely certain of the outcome. He had been sure Yelena wouldn’t dare drop the baby.

He had been right, but in the process, he had created this deep misunderstanding with Annika. Now, no amount of explaining could fix it.

Seeing Conrad’s tight-lipped silence, Annika’s last shred of hope vanished. She unleashed a torrent of words. “Since you don’t care about Monroe, why insist on keeping him? The Beryl family is nothing but a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites!”

The insult stung Yazmin, and her warm expression collapsed. “Annika, you can’t paint us all with the same brush. We all love Monroe, and Conrad…”

She shot her son a look of frustration. “He loves Monroe very much. Conrad has lost so much weight while you’ve been gone. He’s been working day and night, trying to build a good life for you and Monroe.”

Annika’s mocking gaze fell on Conrad. His face was thinner, the angles of his cheekbones more pronounced. He had lost weight, noticeably so, but what did that have to do with her?

“I can’t take any credit for that,” Annika said with a cold laugh.

The hand in Conrad’s pocket clenched so tightly his nails broke the skin, but the pain in his palm was nothing compared to the ache in his heart. The cool line of his mouth curved into a sardonic smile. “Mom, I spend my days indulging in women and wine. How could I not lose weight?”
