His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 78

Annika wanted to snap back, “I'm not like you, sleeping with just anyone,” but the words died in her throat. She no longer had the right to say such things.

"Yes," she said instead, her voice clear and sharp. The single word was like a serrated blade dragging across his heart, leaving his insides twisted into knots.

Conrad’s hands clenched into fists, his brow furrowed. Another wave of heat washed over him, and he stormed into the bathroom. When he emerged, a towel was wrapped around his waist, and a chill emanated from his skin. Droplets of cold water trickled down his chiseled chest, a sight that would drive most women wild. He walked toward her barefoot and untied the belt from her wrists, his skin shockingly cold against hers. He had obviously just taken an ice-cold shower.

"Get out," he ordered the moment she was free.

Annika didn't want to exchange another word with him. She rubbed her sore wrists, turned, and walked out without a backward glance. Just as she reached the threshold, the door slammed shut with a thunderous bang, the force of it making her flinch. It had missed her by inches.

Her face pale with anger, Annika clutched her purse and went to find Quentin in another suite. When he saw her, his expression was frigid. Realizing nothing she could say would salvage their partnership, she simply signed the termination agreement and left.

Back in her car, she had just buckled her seatbelt and pulled out of the Celestial Club's parking lot when a fiery red Maybach shot out from nowhere, heading straight for her.

Annika wrenched the wheel, and with a horrible scraping sound, the right side of her car grated against a wall. She killed the engine and got out to inspect the damage. She’d reacted just in time; otherwise, all the windows on that side would have been shattered.

The red luxury car had stopped, but no one got out. Annika's temper flared. She marched over and banged on the driver's window twice. After a long moment, the window slowly rolled down, revealing a familiar face. Annika suddenly recognized her—it was the woman who had fled Conrad's room. This was obviously her idea of revenge.
