His Regret Arrived Three Days Late novel Chapter 86

Several weeks later, in Eirlandia.

Annika was sitting alone in the hallway of the architectural firm, enjoying the sight of handsome men passing by, when a strikingly familiar face suddenly appeared in her line of sight. Conrad.

Her eyes widened. She rubbed them, thinking she was mistaken, but there was no doubt. It was him. What was he doing here?

He was surrounded by a group of local businessmen, all in suits. Conrad, leading the pack, had an undeniable air of authority. He didn't see her; his head was slightly bowed as he listened intently to the man closest to him—likely a senior executive from some multinational corporation. Despite the man's animated explanation, Conrad’s expression remained impassive.

He was clearly here on business.

The group walked right past her. Panic rising in her chest, Annika quickly gathered her things and slipped away, terrified he might spot her.

Just as she disappeared, Conrad glanced back, catching a fleeting glimpse of a slender, graceful figure hurrying down the corridor. It looked so much like Annika. Her face inexplicably materialized in his mind.

“What the hell is wrong with me?” he cursed inwardly.

Later that night, Annika had just gotten into bed after a shower when the rhythmic creak of a headboard started up next door. She buried her head in her hands and groaned. She never should have rented such a cheap apartment.

She tried to ignore it, but the noise only grew louder, punctuated by a woman's sharp cries and a man's heavy breathing. It was impossible to find any peace.

Fearing another sleepless night, Annika stormed out of her room and banged on her neighbor's door.

A scantily clad blonde woman with a sultry look answered, her eyes cold as she raised an eyebrow. “Yes?”

“Could you please keep it down?” Annika said before turning and going back to her room.
