His Runaway Queen (Effie and Leo) novel Chapter 46

Chapter 24-2

But she turned him down when he asked her. Come to find out, she was only with him because she knew

that we come from money. When he gave her the ring that he bought, she flipped out. The ring only cost around a couple hundred dollars, and he had saved for months for it. So, because it wasn’t an expensive

ring, she threw a fit and showed her true colors.

Yeah, we come from a family that had money. But that didn’t mean that we had money. As kids, our dad

taught us that we had to work hard to earn our money. That we weren’t going to just be handed money left

and right. If we wanted it, we worked for it. He didn’t want us to turn into spoiled rotten brats. Or better yet,

he didn’t want us to turn into our mother.

So we would do chores around the house when we were younger. Once we got old enough, we got

parttime jobs. In the summer, I would sometimes have a couple of jobs at a time. My favorite was always

helping Grandma in the bakery, though. I also helped out in the IT company, and I even had a job at the zoo

for a few years every summer. That was one of my favorites.

But since that bitch showed her true colors to Henrie, he’s not showed any interest in girls. He was afraid of getting used again. He didn’t want someone else who was just after him for his money. Especially now

that he is making good money with his job.

Archie, on the other hand, has always had either a girlfriend or a boyfriend. He told us when we were younger that he was bi and liked both girls and boys. When he came to us to tell us, our mother flipped out and told him she would have a fruit cake for a son. Even if he was half a fruit cake. Dad went off on her in front of us kids over it. After he called her every name in the son and told her to get out of our sight. He sat down with Archie and told him that he didn’t care that he liked d**k and p***y. That he was his son, and he loved him anyway. He just wanted his kids to be happy, no matter what.

It wasn’t long after that that the boys left for college. And Archie and Henrie haven’t talked to our mother since then. They even changed their numbers so that she couldn’t call them, or, well, Henrie. She called him all the time, and he wouldn’t talk to her. I don’t blame him either because I don’t want to talk to her

either.

Anyway, it looked like both of my brothers would be moving down here soon. I hate to think about Henrie being a prospect for the club. But Aries let me know that he’d look out for him. After all, we are all family now. Even with Leandro and I not actually being back together, they are all claiming us as family. It’s nice to know that we have so many people looking out for us now. I’m able to breathe a little bit better now,
