I couldn’t say or ask anything to Marco because he didn’t know much either and he was terrified of speaking too much. I couldn’t ask Uncle either who was unapproachable.
Basically we just waiting for uncle to finish what he was doing. He said he was going to make my dad do something so thats what we were waiting for.
We didn’t have another meal with my uncle since that first time. There were days I would bump into uncle and there were other days we wouldn’t. Marco pretty much avoided uncle like the other time in the bathroom whenever he encountered him.
I just hoped my mum would find me soon. I knew she was looking for me. I also had to help her find me. If I could run away it would be easier for me to get help and find her. Marco told me not to think about escaping but how could I not? I know he was scared but I still had to try. Everyday I would look around the mansion where we moved, looking for something I could use to escape. There were two areas of the mansion Marco and I never went. One area was Uncles and another, I wasn’t sure.
************
The sun shone brightly in the gardens of Uncle’s estate as we played football. It was the next week since I had woken up here. I was slowly getting used to the routine.
I kicked the balled toward Marco and he ran toward the ball. With each day I was just getting more and more nervous but I still didn’t know how to escape.
My eyes glanced at the two bodyguards nearby who are watching us play. They then narrowed as I focused on them. They followed Marco and I everywhere. How was I going to get past them? It seemed impossible.
"Tony!" I then heard Marco’s voice and I turned back to look at him. A quick movement caught my eye and I saw a ball rush past, above my head.
"are you watching the ball?" He asked as I watched the ball go to the other side of the gardens.
"Sorry, I’ll go get it," I told him and ran to where it was.
I reached the other side of the garden which and the ball was near a wall of the mansion. I slowly bent down to get it.
"He’s left you in charge?" I then heard a familiar voice coming from the window pf the mansion just above. I recognised tit o be my uncle’s voice. I realized this side of the mansion was where uncle’s wing was.
I slowly picked up the ball and continued listening.
"Good, use that to clean up anything they might discover. I will proceed with the next phase soon."
There was then silence and I stood still as possible, holding on to the ball, hoping he wouldn’t hear me. I wondered if he was still on the call.
"We have a deal don’t we? You do what I tell you and her life is safe," he said in a scary voice that brought shivers down my spine. "I’ll send you pictures to prove life as usual. But that’s all you’ll get. Don’t push it."
Another silence ensued but this time I heard movement from inside. He was done with call I think.
I then immediately moved away going back to where Marco was. I noticed a bodyguard was watching me not too far away as well. My heart beat fast in my chest hoping he hadn’t seen me listening to my uncles call. I quickly ran back.
I was surprised by how mean and cruel uncle was. It seem he threatened so many people.
