Husband you've abandoned me Fine I'll focus on raising my son novel Chapter 74

Chapter 74: This restaurant is a sinking ship

JASMINE’S POV

The following day Louis had Tony taken to school with one of his drivers. I was glad not to have to do it myself, but it also felt weird not to have to do something you were so used to doing. Louis’ maids had also helped Tony prepare for school. It felt nice not having to worry about the maids working against you. I kissed him goodbye before

Louis and I met in the foyer of his apartment. We were both dressed for work. He wore fine exquisite suit that was well-tailored for his body.

I realised I was just staring at him. However, but so was he as our eyes met after staring each other down.

Louis blinked as if snapping out of his daze. We hadn’t met prior to this moment. He’d already had breakfast by the time Tony and I went to eat.

"How are you feeling?" he asked me as he drew closer to me.

"I’m feeling better thanks," I replied in a small voice as I looked up at him.

I then noticed there were two intimidating men standing behind him.

"Good. There’s something I want to tell you," he then said to me. "Since you insist on going to work. I need to make sure you’ll be safe as I promised."

The two men behind him then stepped forward.

"Meet Klyne and Harry," Louis then introduced the men. "They’ll be watching over you," he told me.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I wondered how that was going to work. Were they going to follow me around the restaurant?

"Don’t look so worried," Louis said noticing my expression. "It’s not like they’ll be right behind you as you work. Their job is to blend in as they protects you. You won’t even notice they are there," he explained.

That sounded interesting."Alright," I accepted.

"Well then shall we go?" he asked me.

"Together?" I asked him.

"What you want to walk or to have your own private car?" he asked me

"No," I responded I could never be that entitled. "I just didn’t—well, anyway what if we’re seen by someone from the restaurant?"

"They wouldn’t know it’s me," he responded. "Lots of people have black sedans. They’ll just assume you have a rich boyfriend or something." he joked.

I rolled my eyes at his joke. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

He then led the way as we went to get in the car that was waiting for us by the entrance driveway of the apartment building.

"You mentioned that you wanted to continue working because you want to do perhaps you could at least tell me for how long you intend to

I looked at the dish which looked like a Mediterranean salad-style dish.

"I know the budget has been cut short but honestly I never imagined it would be to the point of using these crap ingredients?!" the head chef said as he turned to the manager. "I love what I do, I love working here. I’ve been here since the previous owners were the same as you. I would hate to see this place here fail because we’re producing poor quality like this. You’re killing me Michael," he said.

"Colton, you know I feel exactly the same way. Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do about it," the manager replied to the head chef. "This is what the higher-ups are making us work with."

He then turned to Josh.

"Tell the customer you’re sorry and ask them if there’s anything else they want to order to order?" the manager told him.

Josh accepted and returned back to the dinning area.

The head chef shrugged his shoulders. As he walked off back into the kitchen. "This restaurant is a slow-sinking ship! Unbelievable."

The chefs sounded so passionate about their work. I thought to myself. It made me feel awful that this restaurant was going to close down soon. I realised that that meant all of the garden house employees would be without work and they technically had no idea.

I recalled when I told Megan and Mike about it they just knew leadership changed but they weren’t aware that the restaurant was intentionally being sabotaged and going to be shut down in the future.

That was a major downside of a company being bought out to remove competition. The livelihoods of all the employees would be affected. Sure they could find another job but that was a lot of work. Hundreds of people all losing their jobs at the same time was never good.
