Chapter 6 I Threw Them Away
Right after Wynette left the hospital, her phone rang. It was Kaylee.
She let it ring until it hung up on its own.
Again and again.

Deep down, Wynette knew that if she didn’t answer, Kaylee would keep calling nonstop.
In the end, she gave in and picked up.
“Wynette, the Shepherds are pulling their investment. All cooperation between our two families is being canceled. Are you happy now?” Kaylee’s angry voice came through the phone, full of insults.
She couldn’t understand it. Wynette had endured it so long before. Why was she suddenly acting stubborn now?
Hearing her words, Wynette tightened her grip on the phone.
Kaylee’s harsh scolding rang in her ear. Wynette was already used to it.
After a long moment, she finally spoke calmly. “Let them do it. I’ll figure out the company’s problem…”
“Easy for you to say! If the Shepherds pull out, the company could collapse. What about all those employees? How are they supposed to survive?” Kaylee cut her off angrily.
Her words made Wynette fall silent.
She said nothing and simply listened to Kaylee’s endless accusations.
She knew very well that if Kaylee didn’t vent her anger today, Wynette wouldn’t get a moment of peace for the next few days.
So she let her continue.
Finally, Kaylee ran out of energy. On the other end of the line, she started crying sadly.
Wynette sighed softly. “I’ll find another way to get the money. Mom, that’s it for now.”
After hanging up, Wynette first checked the current situation at Jewell Group.
When she learned that the Shepherds had truly withdrawn their investment and were already settling the joint projects between the two companies, Wynette understood. Noah was forcing
her to make a choice.
The man she had loved so deeply had finally betrayed her.

The pain cut deep into Wynette’s heart.

After a while, when the sharp ache slowly faded, she took out her phone and called the realtor to ask about selling the condominium.
Luckily, the people who came to see it today all liked the place and were interested in buying it.
A couple of them still seemed a bit unsure.
As for the rest, once Wynette confirmed everything was fine, she could simply choose a buyer.
After that, they could start the transfer process.
Wynette listened to the agent’s offer and frowned slightly. “The price isn’t the problem. I want the money as soon as possible.”
She had no plan to keep all the money from the condominium.
Even though the property was under her name, half of it belonged to Noah. Once the payment came in, she planned to transfer half to him.
The agent understood right away and started making arrangements, telling Wynette to wait for updates.
After ending the call, Wynette decided to return to the condominium.
Since she planned to sell it, she had no intention of staying there anymore.
She had already packed her things last night. All she needed now was to hire a moving company and leave for good.
What she didn’t expect was that the moment she returned, she ran into Noah.
Wynette was surprised. Shouldn’t he be at the hospital?
Her eyes fell on his right hand. He was holding a pink suitcase.
Noah didn’t expect to run into Wynette at home again either, not even an hour later.
He pressed his lips together and looked at her coldly. “Why is the condo so empty?”
Lorelei was still weak and needed to stay in the hospital for observation. After arranging her admission, Noah came back to pack some things for her.
He hadn’t noticed it last night. But when he came back just now, he realized the photos of him and Wynette were gone. The things they used together had disappeared too.

Thinking about how firmly Wynette insisted on breaking up, Noah felt even more irritated. His anger grew stronger.
How long is she going to keep playing hard to get?
Deep down, Noah simply refused to believe Wynette could really leave him.
She loved him so much.
Wynette glanced at his unhappy face and answered calmly, “Those things were old. I threw them away.”
Just that one sentence made Noah frown.
He felt like there was something more behind her words.
Noah stared at her for a long moment. “Wynette, don’t you have anything to say to me?”
He didn’t believe the Jewells could survive now that they had lost his
support.
Wynette must have come back to soften up and ask for help.
He had already decided to give her a way out. If she backed down now, that would be enough.
After he finished speaking, Wynette looked up at him. Her voice held no emotion at all. “No.”
She didn’t think there was anything left to say between them.
Noah froze. “You…”
He couldn’t believe Wynette didn’t notice that he had just stepped back a little.
Even then, she still refused to admit fault and insisted on being stubborn.
This wasn’t the Wynette he remembered.
Of course Wynette could tell he was giving her a way out. If it were before, she would have happily taken it.
But now, looking at Noah’s annoyed face, she only reminded him lightly. “Aren’t you going back to the hospital to take care of her? You’d better go. What if your precious little princess can’t find you and gets sick again?”
She only wanted Noah to leave sooner.
In the past, whenever it involved Lorelei, he would turn around and leave right away.
This time shouldn’t be any different.
