"None of that matters. What matters is, does your offer still stand?"
Maxwell's eyes were practically burning with obsession as he demanded an answer.
The man chuckled softly. "Of course. Your goals align perfectly with mine. We're on the same side, aiming for the exact same outcome. Trust me, partner with me, and the results will exceed your wildest expectations."
His sheer confidence radiated effortlessly through the phone line.
Maxwell lowered his gaze and hummed in agreement.
"I'll play my part. Whatever you need me to do, just say the word."
"Perfect. We start tomorrow. To our mutual success."
"Deal."
Maxwell hung up. He stood frozen in the bathroom for a few moments before turning on the faucet, splashing cold water on his face. Walking into the living room, he grabbed the spare first-aid kit and sloppily patched up his cuts.
His phone rang again.
A flash of extreme annoyance crossed his face. When he saw it was Aria's agent, the irritation morphed into outright anger.
But given that his company's entire cash flow currently relied on Aria, he had no choice but to answer.
"Mr. Sterling, it's bad! Aria, she...!"
The agent was so frantic he could barely form a coherent sentence.
Maxwell frowned deeply. "Spit it out! Stop stuttering!"
Whenever it came to Aria, his patience was non-existent.
If she wasn't still a valuable cash cow, he would have dumped her on the street ages ago.
"I can't find her anywhere. And yesterday... I found out she's been in contact with Mr. York."
