"My last name... is Lennox."
The moment the words left her mouth, the smile vanished from her face.
Preston's expression plummeted straight into an abyss.
Seeing this, Lyra casually stepped around Marcus to face Preston directly.
"Let me take a wild guess. Whatever dirty work you did for Maxwell, you outsourced it to your lackeys, didn't you? Because if you hadn't, you would have actually known what I looked like."
Otherwise, he would have never been stupid enough to approach her voluntarily.
Lyra's deduction was flawless, which only made Preston's face turn even uglier.
Without exaggerating, he looked like he was going to explode.
Preston opened his mouth to snap back, but his eyes were suddenly drawn to something behind Lyra.
Noticing the shift in his demeanor, Lyra turned her head and froze.
Ezekiel Gardner was making his entrance, and right behind him was Miles.
Miles was dressed in a sharp black suit, the flawless tailoring highlighting his imposing build.
With a face carved by the gods, he was utterly breathtaking.
His gaze swept over the crowd before locking dead onto Lyra.
The second their eyes met, Lyra immediately looked away. She had zero intention of interacting with him in a setting like this, knowing it would only complicate his situation.
Marcus, on the other hand, did a double take when he saw Miles. "If I'm not mistaken, isn't that..."
"Ezekiel Gardner," Lyra cut him off, her tone perfectly composed. "The head of the Gardner Family. Quite the entrance."
Marcus turned to Lyra, shooting her a questioning look as if asking what she was playing at.
Lyra ignored him entirely and added smoothly, "I thought the Sterlings were desperate for a partnership with the Gardners. Aren't you going to use this golden opportunity to go kiss the ring?"
