During Ezekiel's silence, Miles seemed to know exactly what he was thinking.
"What if I told you I have a way to elevate the Gardner family to even greater heights, on the condition that you stop interfering in my personal life?"
Miles's eyes were filled with determination and an unquestionable certainty.
"Otherwise, we have nothing to discuss."
"Is this how you speak to your elders?"
Though Ezekiel said this, his tone was noticeably weaker than before.
It was obvious that as long as Miles could provide value, he might be willing to make concessions.
Of course, he wasn't going to give in easily.
For a moment, the two men stood locked in a stalemate, neither willing to back down.
If Preston hadn't come looking for them right then, they probably wouldn't have resolved it anytime soon.
"Grandfather, Mr. Wang was just asking where you were. I think he wants to speak with you."
Hearing this, Ezekiel's expression softened slightly.
But as he turned to leave, he cast one last look at Miles and left him with a warning.
"If you don't want me getting too involved, then hide it well. But let me be clear—no matter who it is, it absolutely cannot be Lyra."
After Ezekiel walked away, Preston didn't follow him. Instead, he turned to Miles with a smirk. "I never would have guessed you had a thing for your own sister."
It was a blatant provocation, but to Miles, it carried absolutely zero threat.
"Since when do you have the right to dictate my affairs?"
Miles let out a dismissive scoff.
