I Chose Me Over My Marriage novel Chapter 66

With that, she headed straight toward the gazebo in the garden.

Aria had assumed Lyra was going to invite her inside. Just as she stepped forward to enter the house, she was forced to halt and reluctantly trailed after Lyra, gritting her teeth.

In the gazebo.

The two of them sat across from each other.

Aria aggressively fired the first shot, demanding, "Did you pay someone to leak those photos online?"

"Photos?" Lyra raised an eyebrow coolly. "Are you talking about the pictures of you and Maxwell sneaking into a hotel and spending the entire night together?"

Aria's eyes practically bulged out of her head. "You know exactly what I'm talking about! It was you, wasn't it?! You hired someone to stalk me and take those pictures just to ruin my career! You're getting a divorce, so why are you pulling such disgusting, petty stunts behind our backs?!"

"Get a grip."

Lyra let out a mocking scoff.

"It's literally the biggest trending topic on the internet right now. I'm pretty sure seventy-year-olds are reading about it."

"And by the way, why would I waste my time having you followed? Just to watch you two play happy couple in secret and parade around as a proud mistress? Exactly what standing do you think you have to talk to me like this? His sister, or his dirty little secret?"

Lyra didn't deliberately load her words with venom.

But to Aria, every syllable felt like a calculated attack engineered by Lyra herself.

"You..."

Before she could even get a word out, Lyra completely shut her down.

"Save the stuttering. Aria, I don't have the time or energy to waste on you. The divorce is happening. If you're so paranoid, you're more than welcome to tag along to City Hall tomorrow and watch it happen. Trust me, he's just garbage I'm tossing out. And my best trait? I never, ever go back to trash once it's on the curb. Especially when it's utterly irredeemable garbage."
