Chapter 277
Smoke curled through the air as sirens wailed and voices rose in chaos.
Sophie frowned, her body frozen in place as if her legs were weighed down with lead. She wanted to run, but she couldn’t move.
Another wave of heat slammed into her. She stumbled and fell hard to the ground, pain shooting up her spine. Her lashes trembled before her eyes slid shut–and suddenly the world fell silent.
“My baby… my baby…” she whispered, clutching her belly.
But when she looked down, her stomach was flat. No pain, no warmth, nothing.
Desperate, she lurched out of bed to find answers. The door swung open.
Evan Blake walked in, sighing. “The baby didn’t make it.”
The words shattered her. Her body went light, her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the floor.
A shadow loomed over her–Marcus. His voice lashed out, sharp and cold.
“Sophie, you lost our child.”
The words echoed in her ears. Sophie shook her head violently, clutching her ears.
“No. No, it’s not like that… it’s not true!”
Her cry broke the silence-
And she woke with a jolt.
The steady beeping of machines grounded her. The sharp smell of disinfectant snapped her back to reality.
A warm hand covered her icy fingers. Marcus leaned close.
“Sweetheart.”
She looked down at her still–swollen belly and finally exhaled in relief.
The door burst open. Shallow and Alexander rushed in.
“Sophie, I’m so sorry. I never should’ve asked you to come. This is all my fault!” Shallow collapsed by her bedside, sobbing uncontrollably.
Alexander’s glare cut straight to Marcus.
Just then, Ethan Chen rushed in with a tablet, his face grim.
“Mr. Morgan.”
He handed it over. On the screen was an email:
Marcus, it’s time to repay what you owe me.
Signed: Viola.

Chapter 277
Marcus’s chest tightened. Before he could process it, another email appeared.
Today was just a welcome gift. More surprises are coming
His grip on Sophie’s hand tightened.
“It’s Viola. She’s back.”
The room fell silent, tension pressing in.
Sophie’s eyes sharpened as she grabbed his hand.
“What else have you been hiding from me?”
All eyes turned to Marcus.
He finally spoke, voice low.
“Viola left the country back then… because my grandfather forced her to.”
Old memories tore open, veins bulging across his arms.
As a boy, Marcus had been smitten. He and Viola were childhood sweethearts, and he’d sworn to stay with her forever. But the next day, news
blasted across TV screens:
The Moore family has taken over all of the Tudor’s assets…
Marcus froze, fists clenched, as he turned on his grandfather.
“What did you do?”
The old man sipped his tea calmly.
“This is your fault.”
“You never should’ve made that mistake. The heir to the Moore family cannot afford weaknesses–not even love.”
Marcus’s rage flared. “You can’t demand this of me!”
But the old man only adjusted his cuff and walked away.
Marcus had called Viola again and again. The only reply was a text:
I’m leaving.
He had run to the airport, desperate. But she was gone.
A guard appeared. “Young Master, there’s no need to search. The old man already sent her out of the country on his private jet.”
The words struck Marcus like a hammer.
Outside, his grandfather’s car waited. The window slid down, revealing that cold smirk–provoking him without a word.
Marcus had walked away that day, fists shaking, hatred burning in his eyes.
Now, back in the present, Marcus’s voice faltered as he faced Sophie. For the first time, he felt lost. He was unstoppable in business, but in love,
