I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 143

George genuinely hated Jorrod. He found the man utterly exasperating.

But at the end of the day, Jorrod was currently his daughter's boyfriend. At least for the time being.

If he were to grab a broom and physically chase the man out, he worried Sienna would be heartbroken and refuse to eat.

As for Lillian, she had simply suggested they stay and observe the situation, especially since their favorite dumpling restaurant was closed for the day anyway.

George cared about his daughter, and he always followed his wife's lead.

And so, the tiny living room fell into a bizarre, fractured silence. The four of them sat on the sofa in pairs, completely absorbed in their own ulterior motives while pretending to watch TV.

Sienna certainly couldn't focus on the screen.

She knew Jorrod had offended her father in the past, and expecting her dad to joyfully accept their relationship overnight was a pipe dream.

But their romance was just beginning, and she had finally acknowledged her own feelings for him.

Giving up so abruptly didn't sit well with her.

Sienna's gaze was fixed blankly on the television, her mind entirely elsewhere.

Suddenly, she felt the hand beside hers tighten. Sensing the reassuring squeeze, she turned her head. Jorrod leaned close to her ear, his voice dropping to a whisper meant only for her. "It's okay."

How could everything be fine? Sienna didn't buy those two words for a second.

But there was undeniable power in his voice. His deep, resonant tone washed over her like a gentle tide, slowly smoothing out the anxious craters in her mind and settling her restless heart.

Sienna forced a faint smile and squeezed his hand back.

George had his own preoccupations.

Aside from occasionally glancing at his daughter, his eyes kept betraying him, darting over to that wooden gourd on the table.

Whenever Jorrod happened to look his way, George would quickly fake a cough, pretend he wasn't looking, and point at the TV, aggressively analyzing the characters for Lillian.

"Look at that guy. He has a mole by his eye. That's a playboy mark. He attracts women, which means he's utterly heartless..."

Sienna instinctively looked at the corner of Jorrod's eye, her gaze focusing on the small, elegant mole there.
