Jorrod remained expressionless, his gaze flat as he indifferently looked away.
Sienna completely missed the fact that the man's contempt for her had just deepened.
Her mind was utterly consumed by that exorbitant bed. All she wanted was for Jorrod to sleep like a baby tonight, so soundly that every time he saw her, he'd be reminded of his generous promise.
"Hold on. I've slept on these sheets. There's a new set in the closet. I'll change them for you before I go."
Jorrod naturally didn't refuse.
Who said Sienna was the only one disgusted? If he had any other option, he would never sleep in a bed someone else had used—especially not a strange woman's bed.
Then, he watched in horror as the elegant bedding was stripped away and replaced with an aggressively vibrant, neon pink and lime green set... featuring a cartoon sheep.
The entire room suddenly looked twenty years younger.
Jorrod was speechless.
He wanted to bundle the woman up in that atrocious blanket and throw them both out the window.
His face looked downright sickly. "Do you not have any other styles? New ones."
Sienna rolled her eyes. "Look, man, I'm not running a Bed Bath & Beyond. Where am I supposed to get more options? My mom bought this set a few years ago. I thought it was hideous, so I never used it. I guarantee it's brand new."
Jorrod's temples throbbed violently. He pressed his lips together in silence.
She thought it was hideous? Did she think he didn't?
He had to violently repeat the phrase limited resources in his head to force himself to accept it.
At the very least, it was clean.
Sienna flashed him a goofy grin. "You have great presence, Mr. Vaughn. This pattern really suits you. When you sleep under this, you'll be the undisputed king of the grasslands, seriously."
Jorrod took a deep breath. "...Get out."
Sienna happily obeyed. "You got it."
As she turned, she noticed his tall, straight nose was completely bare. Out of the goodness of her heart, she added, "What's your glasses prescription? I have an old pair of black-rimmed glasses a friend left behind. They might clash with your vibe, but if it's an emergency..."
"No need. I'm not nearsighted."
It was a brutally cold response. Her kindness had squarely backfired.
"Oh. Farsighted, then?"
"...I'm not farsighted either."
"Astigmatism?"
Jorrod shot her an icy glare. "You talk too much."
Sienna felt deeply wronged that her good intentions were being treated like garbage. "My place is tiny. I was just worried you'd bump into something with bad eyesight."
Jorrod didn't want to hear it. He was injured, not paralyzed or permanently disabled.
