The room fell utterly silent for several seconds.
Neither of them spoke, but neither drifted to sleep, still locked in the position where Jorrod had pinned her to the mattress.
Jorrod lowered his gaze, his pupils entirely filled with the face of the woman beneath him.
Sienna turned her head slightly, her eyes darting away.
Her mind was racing: *Why hasn't he gotten off me yet?*
Did she have to ask him to move?
But she had undeniably been neglecting him lately, and shoving him away now felt a bit cruel.
But if she didn't say something soon, she wouldn't be able to hold back much longer. He was heavy.
Sienna had been zoned out for too long when she suddenly heard the man's voice drift down from above.
"Sienna..."
His voice was incredibly husky in the quiet night.
"Yeah?"
Sienna turned her head back, crashing instantly into the man's deep, smoldering gaze.
Jorrod's Adam's apple bobbed. He stared at her intensely, his lips pressed tightly together as he remained silent.
Over the past few days, even though she had banned any heavy intimacy because of his back injury, there had been a few times when she couldn't resist his coaxing and let him kiss her.
But she had always maintained a strict boundary, never letting things escalate further.
Locked in his gaze, Jorrod didn't say a word, but Sienna could feel it.
The tips of her ears flushed a hot red. She mumbled a quick, flustered question, "Is your back fully healed?"
"Mhm."
Sienna no longer trusted a single word this man said in moments like this.
"Then I'm going to check."
At her request, Jorrod immediately complied.
He lifted his weight slightly, creating a small gap between their pressed chests. He pulled up the hem of his pajama shirt, exposing a stretch of taut, sculpted abs.
Though the room was dark, the nightlight provided enough illumination that she wasn't completely blind.
