I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 158

Jorrod pulled the phone away from his ear.

He turned half his body around.

Behind him, the area was even darker than where he stood.

But in that pitch-black night, the cold white color was undeniably conspicuous. The car's paint reflected a chilling gleam, as if absorbing all the moonlight, parked ominously beneath a tree.

He turned fully and strode toward it.

The car door opened, and a young man stepped out from the backseat. He was draped casually in a loose, matte-black tech-wear trench coat, paired with simple dark gray cargo pants and white sneakers.

Looking up, a baseball cap pressed down on slightly wavy hair, shadowing his face.

It wasn't until Jorrod closed the distance.

That he saw the familiar face hidden beneath the brim.

Jorrod's brows knitted together, his voice dropping to a freezing temperature that felt sinister in the night air.

"Nathaniel Yale. Do you have nothing better to do?"

Nathaniel leaned against the car, looking perfectly relaxed.

Faced with the interrogation, he merely offered a smirk, his eyes drifting down to the faint scuff mark on Jorrod's coat.

He spoke. "Sorry about that. I was driving a bit fast earlier, I hope you're... alright."

He was saying sorry, but there was a distinct lack of sincerity. Instead, there was a faint, mocking amusement in his tone that entirely negated the apology.

Jorrod glanced at his sleeve, then back at the white car. He instantly understood.

His dark eyes locked onto the younger man as he stated flatly, "That was you driving earlier."

Nathaniel didn't deny it. He just smiled. "Just a joke. I hope I didn't scare you. Don't worry, I'm an excellent driver."

"When did you figure out who I was?"

The familiar avatar and animated sticker finally smoothed the deep crease between his brows.

Jorrod had zero time to play games with Nathaniel. He turned to leave.

From behind, he heard the younger man let out a faint sigh. "I haven't even given you your gift yet. In such a rush to get home?"

Jorrod's patience was steadily being ground into dust.

He already despised this kid for openly coveting his girlfriend.

Now, knowing that Nathaniel had been fully aware of his identity the entire time, yet still paraded around with that fake, innocent act—especially that hypocritical smile that never reached his eyes—made him absolutely nauseating.

Jorrod stopped in his tracks, turning back to issue a cold warning. "Sienna is my girlfriend. She doesn't like you, and you aren't right for her. Drop the delusional fantasies."

Nathaniel brushed off the warning. "Just a girlfriend. People break up all the time, it's nothing new."

Sensing the murderous glare directed at him, Nathaniel added with a smirk, "Sorry, I just like making jokes. If you're getting upset, you'll just have to deal with it."
