I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 171

"Why should I remember her?"

Jorrod Vaughn didn't even bat an eyelid, his fingers casually swiping across the screen. "Is she really worth remembering?"

Silas Lester inhaled sharply.

Good grief.

The man had forgotten every single good thing about her and only remembered the bad!

-

By the time Silas dropped Jorrod off at home,

he checked his phone and found that Sienna Quinn had texted him a while ago.

[He's awake? Why didn't you tell me?]

[Is he okay? Is he feeling sick anywhere?]

[I'm halfway through my tasks. Once I finish this afternoon, I'll take off early and head back. Please let him know for me.]

It was a simple, mundane, and even somewhat heartwarming message.

But reading it made Silas break out in a cold sweat, his scalp tingling with dread.

He couldn't bring himself to tell Sienna not to come; it was too cruel, and he just couldn't say the words.

But letting her walk blindly into this situation seemed even crueler.

Silas still clung to a sliver of hope.

Perhaps his friend was just dealing with the unstable emotions and fragmented memories of a fresh recovery. If he gave Jorrod a little more time, maybe he would remember and his feelings for Sienna would return to normal.

Silas immediately drove straight to Stellaris Corp.

For the first time, he deeply regretted the little privileges he had arranged for Sienna.

The company's leave process was usually complicated. Back then, knowing Sienna was taking care of Jorrod and might need to step away at a moment's notice, he had specifically told her team leader that Sienna only needed to give verbal notice for time off, and they could handle the paperwork later.

Silas's original plan was to have Janice York assign Sienna a mountain of extra work.

At the very least, he needed to stall her today and force her to work overtime.

To his dismay, Janice blinked in surprise and replied, "Mr. Lester, she already left."

"Left?!" Silas asked in disbelief. "Didn't she have an important report due tomorrow morning that had to be finished today? Did she just blow it off?"

Janice didn't understand his sudden outburst. She assumed he was trying to find fault with Sienna and had a problem with her.

Instinctively, Janice began defending her.

"Well, you might not know this, but Sienna is an incredibly outstanding employee. Her efficiency is off the charts..."

So, she had efficiently powered through the most complex parts of her workload and hurriedly asked Janice for the afternoon off.

But the moment she reached the doorway,

Silas stepped into her path.

"Sienna, why don't you go hang out with Elara today? Jorrod is..."

Silas stumbled over his words, completely unable to form a coherent excuse.

Seeing his agonizing hesitation, Sienna's heart leapt into her throat. "Why? What's wrong with him? Is he hurt?"

"It's just... Ugh, how do I put this? Look, just go back for now. I'll stay with him today."

Silas stammered, avoiding her gaze.

The more he dodged the question, the more anxious Sienna became, terrified that Jorrod's condition had worsened.

"I promised him we would celebrate his birthday together. What's wrong with him? Tell me, I won't—"

Her frantic words abruptly cut off.

Out of the corner of her eye, Sienna spotted a familiar figure standing on the staircase.

She slowly looked up.
