I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 189

Theron hadn't visited the office for any complex corporate matter. He simply wanted Jorrod to come home for dinner.

Jorrod hadn't answered his calls or replied to his texts. Since his own uncle had shown up in person to invite him, refusing would have been a blatant sign of disrespect.

The purpose of the dinner was what the patriarch called "your Aunt Madeline finally having time to come home. You missed the last one, so you absolutely cannot miss this one."

Madeline was scouted by a director while she was still in college, thanks to her stunning looks and figure. She had been an actress for over twenty years now.

She spent her days bouncing between movie sets and rarely returned to Aurelia.

The patriarch always insisted on calling these gatherings a "joyous family reunion."

But the "joy" was ironic. Everyone at the table barely exchanged two words. After some superficial pleasantries and eating their fill, they all scattered, as if treating the reunion like an obligatory chore to check off a list.

Jorrod took only a few bites before setting his fork down.

He had no appetite. The food tasted even worse than the hand pies he had for breakfast.

Only Liana took advantage of the empty room to slide onto the sofa next to him.

Jorrod was leaning back, scrolling through something on his phone. The cool screen light illuminated his sharp jawline. Behind his thin, wire-rimmed glasses, his brows were slightly furrowed, giving him an even more unapproachable, icy aura.

Liana swallowed hard, glancing around before leaning in to whisper, "Jorrod, since you've got your memory back, when are you bringing Sienna over for us to meet her properly?"

Hearing her name, Jorrod's brow twitched. He turned his head, letting his gaze rest on Liana's face for a moment before slowly looking away.

He didn't say a word.

Liana suddenly missed the amnesiac version of her cousin.

He had ignored her back then too, but at least he had acted like a human being around Sienna—an intensely passionate, possessive human being who looked ready to devour her.

"I don't care! Sienna is the only one I acknowledge! Don't you dare think I'll ever accept another woman!"

Liana fired off sentence after sentence, her face flushed with anger. After her final outburst, the incredibly unfazed man on the sofa finally offered a response.

A careless, indifferent, "Suit yourself."

Thinking back to how hard she had rooted for them, Liana was furious. Her anger blinded her, and she started spewing whatever came to mind.

"You're unbelievable! You were constantly pinning her down and kissing her senseless! She pushed you and shoved you, and you just kept kissing her like a maniac! I thought you were so deeply in love with her, but the second you got better, you kicked her to the curb! I bet you just got bored of kissing her and threw her away! You..."

Her rant died in her throat as Jorrod shot her a lethal, predatory glare. Liana realized she had gone way too far. No one liked having their most intimate moments secretly observed, let alone thrown back in their face...

The air in the room felt like it had frozen solid. She swallowed hard, dropping her head, too terrified to meet his eyes. "Jorrod..."

After a long silence, she muttered a weak, guilty defense. "W-Well, who told you to be in such a rush that you didn't even close the door... It's not like I wanted to spy on you guys..."
