From pure, unadulterated rage!
She practically choked on her own fury!
"You see?! I told you he was faking it! He claims he can't even remember his own name, but he still insists I'm his wife!"
Sienna's head buzzed loudly. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she paced back and forth in a frantic circle.
Worse still, the man sitting on the bed was looking at her with a face full of utter innocence—a complete 180 from his arrogant, untouchable attitude yesterday!
He was making it look like she was the unreasonable villain here.
Sienna completely lost it. "It's just a bed! Is this really necessary? I don't want it anymore, okay?! I'm Mother Teresa! I'm a saint! I'll just write this off as charity and let you sleep here for free, okay?!"
Elara coughed awkwardly, tugging at her friend's shirt. "I don't think you need to act like you're sacrificing your body."
Sienna snapped her head around, correcting herself instantly, "Stay! Let him stay here for free!"
Jorrod didn't understand. He just watched her vent in pure confusion and panic.
He felt like he had done something terribly wrong, or said something unforgivable.
He didn't know. He didn't know anything at all.
The only thing he knew for certain was that he cared about her, and he couldn't bear to see her so angry.
Someone grabbed Sienna's hand.
The warm touch made her look down, and then slowly drag her gaze back up to the man.
The eyes looking back at her were glassy and framed by thick lashes. The pleading look in them was so genuine it actually managed to spark a flicker of pity in her heart.
His tone was heartbreakingly cautious. "Did I do something wrong, Wife? Please don't be mad... As long as it makes you happy, I'll do whatever you want."
Sienna laughed in disbelief. Defeated, she closed her eyes to calm her racing heart. When she opened them again, she was much more composed.
