Jorrod didn't stare at her for too long. Acting as if he had heard nothing, he looked away, his long, well-proportioned fingers catching the knot of his tie and slowly loosening it.

Sienna found her eyes suddenly glued to him, perhaps out of sheer novelty.

The gold-rimmed glasses veiled some of his emotions, but she could still feel the icy bite in his gaze. A thin layer of frost seemed to coat his eyes, making his stare piercingly cold.

"Tell me exactly how he plans to kill me, so I can at least prepare."

His tone was as calm as calm could be.

But it was glaringly obvious he was looking to settle the score.

It reminded Sienna of the eerie quiet before a massive storm.

It was just a misunderstanding, something a simple explanation could fix. She quickly opened her mouth.

"No, no," she said. "Don't misunderstand. He thought I was handling *your* eggs... I mean, family jewels. That's why he got momentarily self-righteous and ran his mouth."
