Jorrod's gaze leisurely drifted over.
The woman had her head ducked down, her entire face practically buried in her phone.
A crimson flush crept all the way from her cheeks down to the tips of her ears. She pressed her lips tightly together, frantically jabbing at the screen and desperately hammering the volume buttons.
For the first time, Jorrod realized that when someone was truly embarrassed, even their neck flushed pink. Like a splash of overripe cherry juice, the blush trickled visibly downward.
After the room sat in dead silence for a good long while, Sienna's mortification finally began to recede.
Beside her, the man suddenly spoke up.
"Eager to learn, I see."
"..." Sienna desperately wanted to scream that every single one of those was saved by him, the great Mr. Vaughn!
But she quickly remembered that she had explicitly told Jorrod they shared a pure, innocent romance.
If she didn't pass the buck right now, she would itch all over.
Sienna cleared her throat, straightened her posture, and feigned perfect composure. "My ex-boyfriend saved those. I just clicked on it by accident, that's all."
She hastily added, "Oh, Liam Carter."
Take the fall, Liam. It was about time she got some petty revenge on him anyway.
Jorrod didn't bother pointing out the discrepancy in her story. He merely curled his lip and said without an ounce of emotion, "Sharing pants and a video account. How generous."
Sienna ignored the bizarrely sarcastic remark, focusing entirely on clearing out her video bookmarks.
The room returned to silence.
Aside from the clacking of the keyboard, the occasional sound of various short videos played from the phone.
Perhaps because of Jorrod's previous viewing habits, almost every video she swiped through revolved around recipes.
When she scrolled past a tutorial on making brown sugar pastries, Sienna suddenly remembered she still had some of those sweet bean pastries left in her bag.
Sienna frowned immediately. Just as she was about to snatch it back, she suddenly noticed that the pastry looked like it had been bitten.
She remembered now. When leaving this morning, she had taken a couple of bites to stave off her hunger.
Sienna quickly swapped the pastries in their hands. "Oh, oh, I'm sorry, I took a bite of this one this morning. I completely forgot. This one is untouched, eat this one."
Jorrod hadn't moved an inch the entire time, simply watching as the pastry in his hand was swapped out.
Finally, he tilted his head slightly, staring for a moment at the missing half-circle with teeth marks in Sienna's hand. Then, he turned his head back and took a bite.
Truth be told, he hadn't eaten anything all day.
Even though the sweet bean pastry was cold, it was still fluffy and soft, the red bean filling sweet and dense. It tasted exceptionally delicious.
-
This was the first time Sienna had ever heard Jorrod say thank you to anyone.
