"..."
"Uh, but once I started studying it, I found out it was actually quite nice. It's a beautiful industry, and it suits me well enough," Sienna quickly added, trying to smooth things over when she saw how stunned he looked.
Quincy finally snapped out of it and chuckled. "You kid, you're a little too honest. You know perfectly well that Jorrod needs my help, and you can't even spin a pretty lie?"
Sienna frowned, the words slipping out automatically. "Since we need your help in the first place, we should be as sincere and mindful as possible. What kind of precious things can a mouth full of lies really buy?"
She initially thought she had delivered a beautifully profound statement and was practically applauding herself on the inside. But then she suddenly remembered that Jorrod had literally lied his way right through Quincy's front door!
Sienna slammed her mouth shut and guiltily lowered her head.
Quincy completely missed her sudden awkwardness and kept talking. "Speaking of that kid Jorrod, I thought he was going to end up single for the rest of his life. I have no idea what you see in him."
Sienna cleared her throat. "Um... I just like him. He's really good-looking, has a great body, and amazing abs. I'm completely head over heels for him."
*I'm so sorry, Quincy, but lies can absolutely buy a brand-new phone.*
Quincy shook his head. "Just like Clara, only caring about a pretty face when picking a partner."
Sienna offered an awkward smile. After a moment of silence, she suddenly remembered the real reason they were here.
They were leaving tomorrow. Quincy couldn't exactly throw her out in the middle of the night.
Weighing her words carefully, she finally asked, "Quincy, what about the favor Jorrod asked of you?"
For once, Quincy didn't fly off the handle. He just let out a soft sigh. "He's been begging me for over a year now. I'm not just being stubborn, and I'm certainly not the high-and-mighty, uncorrupted artist the media makes me out to be."
"It's just..." A flicker of emotion shone in his tired eyes. "I don't want to touch those memories. Sometimes I think, did I lose the ring? Maybe that was just fate. Maybe God wanted me to forget that part of my life."
