I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 230

Scott watched as the man paused. His eyelids lifted, revealing narrow, deep-set eyes that were cold and unreadable. With just one glance, an inexplicably oppressive aura engulfed him.

Scott swallowed hard and instinctively added, "Sienna's... boyfriend?"

That gaze remained incredibly cold, entirely devoid of emotion, and even carried a subtle hint of displeasure.

Scott immediately thought he had mistaken the man for someone else. Just as he was about to apologize, the other man asked, "What is it?"

After a few seconds of mental debate, Scott returned to his initial judgment.

He had been curious why this man's aura was so vastly different from their first encounter, but then he figured the guy was probably just putting on an act when his girlfriend was around.

He quickly said, "Please wait a moment."

Jorrod didn't say a word the entire time. He simply watched in silence as the clerk hurried over to the counter, bent down to dig around, and pulled out a perfectly wrapped, pastel pink square box.

Finally, he watched as the clerk, looking a bit sheepish, presented the exquisite box to him with both hands.

"This is a birthday gift I prepared for Sienna a few days ago. I figured I'd give it to her when she dropped by, but I haven't seen her lately. Could I trouble you to pass it along to her?"

At the very end, the young man hastily added, "I absolutely don't mean anything by it! We just get along well, so I wanted to give her a simple token of my appreciation."

Jorrod maintained his impassive, icy expression. He effortlessly pulled the box from the clerk's hands, examined it for a moment, and then unhurriedly set it down on the cash register right in front of Scott.

Scott froze, watching the man look up at him. "Since you know she has a boyfriend, you shouldn't do things that cause misunderstandings. I am not in the habit of acting as a delivery boy."

Jorrod casually grabbed a tissue from the counter and looked down to wipe his hands, continuing in a slow, deliberate tone, "You shouldn't have any 'other meanings,' and you certainly shouldn't have any 'tokens of appreciation.' Keep your things to yourself, and don't give gifts to people who shouldn't be receiving them."

When Jorrod walked out, Scott was still utterly bewildered.

He had been far too naive, assuming this guy looked like a soft puppy who wouldn't mind...

Scott scratched his head.

It seemed this soft puppy had turned feral today.

Upon returning home, Jorrod hopped straight into the shower to wash off the grime of the past few days.

Once the water stopped, the bathroom remained steeped in warm steam. He stood in front of the mirror, drying his hair, with a towel casually wrapped around his waist, barely hanging onto his hips. Trails of water slid down his bare torso, disappearing past the edge of the towel.

As if noticing something, Jorrod paused.
