I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 261

Jorrod's eyes locked onto hers, his voice low and heavy. "I wanted to see what kind of fresh grass my ex-girlfriend picked, since she refused to look back at me."

Sienna stared back. "Did you come to see, or did you come to chase him off? Don't tell me those documents just happened to land on your desk, you just happened to be in the neighborhood, and you just happened to walk upstairs to deliver them."

Her tone carried a hint of annoyance, as if scolding him for ruining her date.

Hearing it, a sudden, bitter ache flooded Jorrod's chest. After a few seconds, he let out a dark scoff. "You dated me, and now you can stomach a guy like that? The man was a complete fake. Doesn't chewing on garbage hurt your teeth?"

"Aren't you thinking a little too highly of yourself, Mr. Vaughn? What makes you so superior? Do you have an extra nose or mouth?" Sienna fired back, yanking her arm backward.

It was useless. Her forearm remained securely clamped in his grip—firm enough that she couldn't break free, but carefully measured so it didn't hurt her.

Realizing she was trapped, Sienna sneered. "My teeth are perfectly fine. I'm not a picky eater. I bite just fine."

Jorrod's gaze darkened with intent. "I know. I've experienced that firsthand."

Involuntarily, Sienna's eyes darted to the cut on his lip. The wound she had inflicted was still there, marked by a faint scab. Somehow, it added a dangerously seductive, broken quality to his usually cold and pristine features.

"Besides, what ex-girlfriend?" She forced herself to meet his eyes, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Was it *you* I dated?"

His gaze grew feverish, laced with a raw, almost violent edge.

He leaned in, his voice dropping to a gravelly whisper. "Why wouldn't it be me?"

Sienna challenged him. "Is it? What exactly do you remember?"

Jorrod didn't miss a beat. "If I remembered everything, would you come back?"

The sudden sincerity in his tone threw her off. She ignored the question, her expression chilling. "You're a busy man, Mr. Vaughn. You should head home early."

The formal title grated on his nerves. Jorrod let out a low, bitter laugh, refusing to let her go. "Mr. Vaughn? Do you call Liam 'Team Lead Carter' too? Since you're out here picking a man on a blind date..."

"Look back at me instead."

Sienna raised an eyebrow and smirked. "I want someone devoted, someone who caters to my every need. Can the prestigious heir do that?"

Jorrod's eyes narrowed slightly. He stared intensely at her through the sliver of space between them.

Slowly, he murmured, "Why couldn't I?"

Sienna laughed.

It was a laugh filled with utter disbelief and mockery.
