She was certain he still didn't have his memories, but equally certain he had read every single message on her old phone.
"Hah." Sienna kept her head down, scrolling through her phone, pressing her advantage. "Mr. Vaughn, don't tell me the 'w.' in your handle stands for 'wife'."
Jorrod didn't look at her, firing right back. "Then does the 'Bowl' in your handle stand for 'Boyfriend'?"
He said it with infuriating casualty, as if asking what she had for breakfast.
Sienna was completely caught off guard by the comeback.
She had intended to render him speechless, yet she was the one scrambling to clarify. "What are you talking about! I've had this handle since college."
Jorrod finally turned his head slightly, giving her a passing glance. "I've known the alphabet since kindergarten."
Sienna's lips parted, but she couldn't find a retort. Finally, she sneered, "And you actually think you can pursue women like this?"
Jorrod seamlessly pivoted. "Actually, I still haven't mastered the alphabet. You'll have to teach me when you're free."
"In your next life!"
Sienna looked down and aggressively changed her handle to 'A Bowl of Millet'.
The set wasn't too far from the office. As they neared the location, Sienna suddenly realized that in her morning rush, she had left a crucial stack of design files on her bedroom desk.
She furiously dug through her purse, confirming they were indeed forgotten.
A barely audible sigh slipped past her lips.
"What's wrong?" Jorrod asked, glancing over.
They were almost there. Turning back now—especially with her boss as the chauffeur—would be an immense waste of time and professional capital.
"Nothing," Sienna said, clutching her bag and accepting her fate.
Jorrod didn't press the issue. At the next intersection, he smoothly and silently spun the steering wheel.
The car veered off their route.
