I Fell for the Man Who Ruined Me, Then He Forgot He Ever Loved Me Back novel Chapter 288

The sound was neither loud nor soft, but in the quiet of the night, inside the isolated apartment, it felt undeniably intimate. Sienna frowned. "Don't make weird noises."

Jorrod's voice was slightly hoarse as he defended himself. "The scissors pressed against the burn."

"..."

Sienna had assumed he was just being a flirt, but it turned out he was actually in pain.

She quietly moved around to face him and began cutting the gauze across his chest.

Jorrod's eyes were half-lidded, which was more than enough to take in the sight right in front of him. They were incredibly close. As she kept her head down, a few stray strands of her hair brushed lightly against his bare chest, tracing over his skin with every movement and stirring up a maddening itch.

Her hand pulled at the gauze. The scissors were dull, making the cutting process strenuous, which inevitably caused the bandages to pull tighter against the raw wound.

It actually hurt like hell.

It hurt so much he clenched his jaw, his eyes narrowing from the sharp sting. Yet, in the end, his Adam's apple merely bobbed, and he didn't let out a single sound of complaint.

He was afraid she would notice that if she had just used the scissors...

Jorrod's mouth was incredibly lethal—Sienna had always believed that. But his body was equally devastating, bringing that same aggressive impact right to her line of sight.

Broad shoulders, narrow waist, pale luminous skin where even the blue veins were starkly visible.

If there ever came a day where he cursed her out completely naked, she honestly wasn't sure if she would swallow hard or spit in disgust.

The scissors were too blunt, and being stared at made her so nervous that the cold metal tip repeatedly dragged against his chest. The pale skin was needlessly rubbed raw, leaving a flush of irritation in its wake.

Whether it was from the pain or something else entirely, she wasn't sure.

Sienna just watched as the chest beneath her hands slowly rose and fell—each breath heavier and more drawn out than the last.

With a final *snip*, Sienna was free.

She stood up with a sigh of relief, quickly pulling away the cumbersome gauze.

"Put your clothes on, go wash up, and get some rest early," Sienna said over her shoulder as she headed toward her bedroom. Mid-stride, she rubbed her chin, her brow furrowing in thought.

She really should have just made him cut it himself.

Around ten o'clock that night, Sienna received a message on her phone.
